More Microsoft-Published Games Could Come to Steam

"We have and we'll continue to look where it makes sense to bring out titles to Steam."

Just recently, Microsoft announced that Quantum Break is coming to Steam, following its release on Xbox One and the Windows Store for PC. Could more Microsoft-published games come to Valve's digital storefront in the future? Xbox marketing boss Aaron Greenberg said in a new interview that Microsoft will put games on Steam "where it makes sense" instead of declaring that all of its games will come to the store.

"Well, from a fist-party standpoint, over the years, we've always had titles in the Steam store, from Age of Empires, to Alan Wake, to even more recently we had titles like Ori and State of Decay," Greenberg told DualShockers. "We have and we'll continue to look where it makes sense to bring out titles to Steam."

"We're excited to have brought Quantum Break there, we know there are fans of the Steam store, and costumers there that we can reach, that will enable the title to have even more success," he added.

Overall, Greenberg said Microsoft will continue to think about Steam when it's deciding where to launch its PC games. However, he mentioned again that this will only be "where it'll make sense."

Greenberg did not offer any insight into what factors Microsoft takes into consideration when it's deciding where to release its PC games.

You can read the full DualShockers interview here.

Quantum Break comes to Steam on September 14 alongside a version of the game for physical retailers called Quantum Break: Timeless Collector's Edition.

The version of Quantum Break coming to Steam will include "all of the latest updates." Quantum Break's Steam version and the Timeless Collector's Edition will sell for $40.

In other news about Quantum Break for Steam, developer Remedy Entertainment has confirmed you won't need Windows 10 to play it.

Greenberg's comments about possibly releasing more Microsoft-published games on Steam is no real surprise. At E3 this year, Xbox boss Phil Spencer said more Steam releases of Microsoft-published games were on the way. Also, Steam is a juggernaut in the PC space; it has more than 125 million users.

Makes sense, put single player games offline on steam and multiplayer on W10 store for xbox live integration. I see no issues with this unless the games suck of course.

@chiefwiggum16: How naïve are you that you think Xbox Live on PC would work when it already failed? Also, PC games don't need xbox live for multiplayer. Why the hell would you want Microsoft to do that? It's not my fault you can't handle the cold, hard truth.

You know what MS? Just leave the Xbox One exclusives to Xbox One and bring back all the PC exclusives like Age of Empires and Rise of Nations.

@gamefreak215jd: No. I do not understand gamers fighting over exclusives instead of wishing the other players to be able to play the games.

@gamefreak215jd: yes and no......i get we are heading in to console port hell BUT it would be nice to see people really be able to make a true choice and still play the games we want.......how much bigger would PC be if people could play madden or baseball games on PC??? how many more people would be playing counter strike or dota 2 if the console players could get true PC games??? on the other side of things how nice would it be for a console gamer to be able to put in a 6 year old game like battlefront bad company 2 and be able to play it right now on active servers???? next is the fact a ton of PC gamers could stop buying consoles without missing out on games or the online part of the fun(i have a one and a PS4 and will NEVER put them online other then to download stuff and update the console)......

i see good and bad in both sides of it.....we could get way longer support for beloved games as the PC community keeps things around a lot longer then console.....i would bet money people playing on consoles would give 5 or 10 bucks a year like PC gamers do to people running servers just to keep a playable.....i also think a ton of PC games would like to see more people playing the same games or even having the chance to......

"where it'll make sense."

What does that even mean...? In what scenario doesn't it makes sense, as opposed to to another where it does? I wish they'd stop talking in circles and just release the games in other stores. It'll work out better for all of us.

@davillain-: If Nintendo was smart, they would. But Nintendo still thinks PCs are for spreadsheets.

@borgking1234: translation....every one is doing this......on Uplay i see ads for origins....get on origins i see ads for Uplay.....steam at one point sold games for both of them and you would buy the game on steam only to have to install uplay or origins to truly play the game......but im with you.....i deleted every icon to open the store after installing windows 10 and did not even look at the games list.....not going to restore those icons at any point.......

I'll take one if they come in gray. No to the white though, there is no way I will be able to wear it for even 5 minutes without it getting dirty.

Dear Microsoft,

As a primary PC gamer whose Xbox One is pretty much collecting dust at this point, I will never buy a single title from the Windows Store.

Give us the customization PC gamers demand, or our money will go elsewhere.

@skipper847: Yep, after I read what games from the Windows Store does, I swore to never support it. I didn't buy a $1400 machine to have my hardware gimped like that.

@milesprower06: I was really pissed about how bad MS messed this up. Quantum Break is actually an awesome game (I had to buy it for my XBOX after I heard about just how messed up the PC version was). It runs like a dog on my XBOX but the story and graphics are amazing. Seriously, the frame rate on the XBOX has to be sub-30 most of the time but at least I get a full screen game which is not what I would get on my PC (I have a 21:9 monitor).
