New Mass Effect DLC, avatar items now available

[UPDATE] Microsoft releases Pinnacle Station, a 13-mission, two-to-three-hour add-on to the popular Xbox 360 role-playing game; Mass Effect outfits hit Marketplace en masse.

Back in June, BioWare's Twitter page promised an announcement about new Mass Effect downloadable content within days. Now, over two months later, the second downloadable expansion has finally surfaced on Xbox.com--apparently by accident.

Hopefully, Pinnacle Station's
Hopefully, Pinnacle Station's "combat scenarios" won't pit players against Krogan warriors or Ansari commandos.

Titled Pinnacle Station, the add-on does not yet have a price or release date, and any attempt to purchase it results in a prompt for a special promotional code. However, the flat page for Mass Effect, which can itself be bought digitally via Games on Demand, does list a "Pinnacle Station Theme" for MSP240 ($3) as being available for immediate purchase.

The first Mass Effect DLC, Bring Down the Sky, cost MSP400 ($5) but only featured 90 minutes of gameplay set on a planet-threatening asteroid. By contrast, Pinnacle Station is described as having two-to-three hours of gameplay and set aboard "a remote, top-secret Alliance space station," which can be landed on a planet's surface. The expansion will have players "test the limits of [their] combat prowess" in "13 exciting combat scenarios," apparently confirming reports that it would feature a gladiatorial arena of sorts.

No Caption Provided

As of press time, Microsoft had not returned requests for comment on the Xbox.com Pinnacle Station page or whether the expansion would be released for the PC edition of Mass Effect. Reps for BioWare parent Electronic Arts politely declined to immediately offer further details.

[UPDATE] Those details came early Tuesday, when the Pinnacle Station add-on went live, costing MSP400 ($5) and weighing in at 246MB. Simultaneously, Microsoft also released a slew of premium Mass Effect avatar outfits ranging from MSP320 ($4) suits of Alliance armor to MSP80 ($1) shirts.

Damn. I told my friend that the only clothing I would consider buying from the avatar store would be Mass Effect armour. And now, here it is. I guess I'll have to buy it.

Owners of the PC-version: you can buy the new DLC in the EA Store (<< LINK REMOVED >>) . Cost is the same as on Xbox: 5 dollars.

so is the idea that if you finished the game - you need to start from a previous save and just play the DLC? Will it overwrite your final save from before? Or will that save stay the way it was...? thanks.

I downloaded my DLC and it's not working...no new achievements or anything under the extras menu.. *update* Well i got it working now I had to REBUY Bringing down the sky since pinnacle station wasn't compatible with my GOTY edition version of Bringing down the sky..also if you've beaten the game already you can't continue...from the end of the last save point.

In case others experience the same problem as me with the 360 version, If you cannot access the content you may have to delete the "Bring Down the Sky" DLC from your hard drive in order for the game to recognize the new content and achievements, then after that re-download BDtS, because otherwise you cannot access your previous save files. A pain in the ass, for sure, but it worked. Hope this helps.

So anyone actually playing this? Currently purchased and downloaded, however the game doesn't recognize it (Extras displays no additional achievements or downloadable content) Do I have to wait for an update latter in the day? Or do you just fly to a previously visited star system? I'm a pretty understanding guy. I'll give Bioware the benefit of the doubt on this, but if M$ has screwed me over again, you can bet I'll be picking up that new PS3 relatively soon.

@SocialAnXieTy they made this dlc so you could chose how you would want mass effect 2 to start depending on the choices you make in this dlc. i would say its good timing to release this before mass effect 2
