[UPDATE] EA has now confirmed that Battlefront and EA Sports UFC 2 are being added to the EA Access free game vault. Additionally, the company announced even more games for the program.

Six PopCap games were added today, including Heavy Weapon, Bejeweled 2, Bejeweled 3, Feeding Frenzy, Feeding Frenzy 2, and Zuma.

EA Sports UFC 2, Mirror's Edge Catalyst, and Star Wars Battlefront will be added "later this year," though EA did not announce specific release dates for them.

The orginal story is below.

EA is adding more games to the EA Access free game vault.

The company today announced that Xbox One games Star Wars Battlefront and EA Sports UFC 2, two titles released within the past year, are headed to the service later this year. EA made the announcement in a tweet and then removed the message, according to NeoGAF. In another tweet, EA said there was something wrong with the link it posted earlier and is working to publish a new one, though that hasn't happened yet. We'll report back with more details soon.

EA Access is available for $5/month or $30/year. On top of free games, subscribers also get early access to upcoming titles and discounts on all EA digital content. Subscribers can start playing a portion of Battlefield 1 on October 13, which is more than a week before its official release date on October 21.

It's rumored that Battlefront and EA Sports UFC 2 will be added to the EA Access free game vault later this year, though no release dates were announced.

A version of EA Access called Origin Access is available on PC with its own vault of free games. However, Battlefront and EA Sports UFC 2 were only confirmed for EA Access; EA Sports UFC 2 was not released on PC. No version of EA Access is available for PlayStation 4.

@Celsius765: It´s kinda crazy how good of a deal is EA Access. You get ALL EA games less than a year after release..

Not to mention the 10 hour trials of newer titles, and all of that for less than $60 a year

Between that and Xbox Live Gold, you don´t really need anymore games...

@LeoKRock: As far PS goes I really only want it for bandai namco's jrpgs, Square's Kingdom Heart series, and ratchet and clank(series might be stalling out). If Square would release a Kingdom Hearts collection for Xbox I might be able to let sony go,its kind of a platformer and rpg roled into one. NextI'd need a 3d platforming series from Xbox, I dunno if Sunset Overdrive will be it

If I didn't have Battlefront for PS4 I'd be super stoked about this. Still stoked for people that don't own it yet, that's a really solid addition to EA access. At under $50 for 2 years (on sale), EA access is an amazing deal. I really wish Sony was on board too.

@dashaka: Me too. SONY were imbecilic in their decision to shun this service. With any luck they will make a U-turn and admit that they were wrong but then again knowing SONY....

@gotrekfabian: I don't see where sony is coming from. I believe the stated that they didn't feel there was enough value in the service to bring it to their customers. What is going on here? If they brought the service to their customers, would they be losing a chunk of profit from customers who would otherwise be buying them off the PS Store or.. what?

@aurorikin: I can't even think where they felt that it would be wrong for their demographic. Perhaps they felt that the subscription wouldn't be good for their customers and would be a service that was there just to rip off the people. And then I look at PS Now and think 'No fu(k1ng way'!'.

Wow, Battlefront would be a huge title for that service. Complain all you want about it's lack of this or that... people will be playing it for sure.

@howthegodzkill: 100%. I wanted to buy Battlefront but had many doubts. Now adding Battlefront and UFC 2 (which despite me generally not liking sports games, I loved loved the first UFC) has convinced me to get that one year subscrition to Access.

Great move on EA's part.
