Next-gen Final Fantasy tech demo shown

The only thing making this look good graphically is the frame rate. Other than that, looks no better than Heavy Rain or Max Payne 3.

Maybe if FF Vs. XIII was done I would actually care more about this.

Looks good and all but I want to see a game, not a movie Square Enix. Also where's Bravely Default: Flying Fairy (3DS), Dragon Quest X (Wii & Wii U), Final Fantasy Type-0 (PSP), and Final Fantasy Versus XIII (PS3)?

Is that in Game or CGI?

meh, sick of modern vs magic...lets go back to old school FF games where ppl didnt have fancy walkie talkies and ak-47s...where is FF magic and self gone ? This series is dead to me now. :(

I would like FF-versus-13 and a FF7 remake with this tech instead of a new FF. FF7 was my favourite. The series was unbelievably sad.

This is not next gen for PC, this is current gen. *sigh*

Why do they want to get into next-generation anyways!? To make us a game that looks awesome!? Where is Versus then???

Looked very good. Cloth was still worn close so only a few parts could flap around. Short hair abounds so that it can move as a few small clumps instead of flying all over the place.

Still, I kinda wish they had use the Final Fantasy 7 opening again. It would have been fun to compare the different generations.

I still don't understand why everyone is trying to get into the next generation of systems. Budgets for making AAA games are extremely high and most don't make an appropriate amount of money back to warrant them wanting to go into making games for next gen systems.

I'm NOT against better power in game systems or anything, but new systems aren't really needed right now. I just feel like current technology should be SLIGHTLY better than what game systems allow for. That way, it'll be easier for devs and publishers to make money and stop screwing us over with obnoxious DRM garbage or other methods like used game penalties and so on. That way they can make money and be able to afford to make top tier games for us without having to break the bank.

To be honest I don't care about game budgets and so on, but if it makes it easier for them to make better games on lower budgets, then I'm all for that.

i like the art style so far...not super futuristic or medieval. hopefully they can actually make it fun and interesting at the same time..lol. i don't think their games have been that bad over the past few years...just not nearly what i know a company like that is capable of.

If you want to see what games will be capable of in the not to distant future check out some of the demos using the Unreal Engine 4. Graphics aside developers, don't lose sight on gameplay because that's what matters most!

Okay people read the story.....This is not a game play clip or a preview of an upcoming game. This is a TECH DEMO used to showcase the technology of their new new game engine. That's it, nothing else to it. The video is to show the different features in real time. I will say after watching it though is that it looks very impressive and I'll be amazed if that's real time and not CG.

If only square would stop with the cutscenes and work on actual gameplay. They have lost their narrative drive over the years to this ever present want to present an amazing looking world rather then a world with some real depth of say Final Fantasy 6.

All Square Enix cares about is graphics, focus more in gameplay and story seriously

Final Fantasy XIV - The Apology

The demo looks nice. And you can always count on Square Enix to provide a long story, good music and voice acting, game play. But everyone has to stop comparing the amazing older FF games with the newer ones. Square Enix is not trying to keep the older gen of gamers that grew up with the series, but instead trying to get the current gen of gamers to like FF. Unless gamers can pull of what happend with "Mass Effect 3" Square will continue what their doing.

Nothing about this video save for the disclaimer in the begin leads on that what I'm seeing could actually be real time gameplay footage. It's not that I'm saying it's a farce necessarily, I'm just saying if you put together a video boasting about the capabilities of a new real time graphics engine, maybe you should put together something that looks like it's real time. Not what looks like any number of cut scenes I've scene from any number of other games.

Personally , a Square representative showing me the cinematic from the beginning of Final Fantasy 13 and whispering in my ear "this is what the actual GAME will look like!"; would have the same effect on me as this video I just watched.

Ok so as a Tech Demo....it looks....but it really doesn't look that much better than The Last Of Us....yes amazing graphics will wow anyone and get some ohs and ahs....but what we really need is a really well developed story line to go with the flashy graphics...Final Fantasy used to be one of my favorite series to play...but sadly over the years it has lost a lot other than the name Final Fantasy....

they don't know how to make games anymore that is why the last Final Fantasies and this are all about graphics.

Why don't they just make CG movies(ala Dreamworks)? Cause they sure as crap can't make a game anymore!
