I think this is pretty simple.

If you think about it- Regardless of your opinion Nintendo is the busiest and biggest vid game company period.

They have always had the #1 handheld system to support and a home console.

They have over a dozen studios and 2 huge systems.

Sonys psp doesn't count- never haa been big.

There's your answer- you have so much responsibility as the largest company and the most franchises that need to be filled by your fans equals less time to make a new franchise.

Your lucky to get 1 new franchise every other year but if you do it really kicks ass because one thing about nintendo is they rarely invest in crap and that's why they will always have their dedicated fans coming back for new experiences with their most popular characters.

If you look at most of there games that are made every 2-4 years they are not lacking innovation and don't play the same- it's not as if they are giving you the same title like the latest gears of war and god of war- they feel like new games and you walk away being able to appreciate each game for what it is.

There you have it haters

If they do ALL old school 8-bit games, that would sell me immediately. I'd buy a Wii-U. I want ALL nintendo games. It'd be a retro-dream.. . !

Like PSN? If all you care about is the PS4, then why are you on a Wii U article?

THIS is why nintendo is dying out, make some GOOD current gen games withe some good CURRENT hardware. STOP dragging aeons old games up and putting them on the new machine, because in all honesty, they were good then but they look dated as **** and the gameplay is nothing to shout about. I loved the snes back in the day but there is no way in hell i would actually pay for any of the games, especially since my smartphone has the power to run every emulator going perfectly(apart from the ps2, ps1 runs SWEET!)

@torrne667 The effort to port old games is pretty low, I think they should always try to port as many as they can

Every time people get excited about the re release of a nintendo or super nintendo game like this I just have one simple question to ask: Have none of you heard of roms and emulators??? lol They are generally free to download and you don't even have to pirate them. Why people would want to pay for free games is beyond me lol

@TheFlawedGoblin It's piracy if you don't own the game.

@GunnyHath @TheFlawedGoblin No my friend its perfectly legal to download but not to distribute. Also, don't you think its a bit greedy to try and re sell a game from the nes or snes era when these companies aren't really having to do anything to redistribute the game other than just throw up online? Its not like they put more work into it. They are simply cashing in on people dumb enough to not realize how to download emulators and roms for free on public websites. There is no torrenting involved. Regardless, if you want to pay for an out dated game to line the pockets of some CEO who literally did nothing for that game in over 20 years, be my guest. I'm not stopping you or anyone else from doing that. I just think its foolish.

You will notice all most all rom sites state it is illegal to download and keep the rom if you don't own the game. Just saying. I personally like playing on the old systems, but would say buy earthbound on virtual console rather than pay over a hundred on eBay for a used copy or use an emulator. Yes I played nes games on an emulator 15 - 20 years ago, and yeah I thought it was cool way back then, but now think they are lame.

@TheFlawedGoblin @GunnyHath I have nothing against emulation, I have every game you can imagine. But it is illegal if you down own the game, distribution or not. It's a huge grey area, and nobody cares enough to prosecute you, but it's not technically legal.

Actually GunnyHath is correct, downloading ROMs is technically illegal though I doubt anyone will track you down and arrest you for it.

you know what nintendo did wrong with the Wii? they got rid of the traditional controller. they also kept releasing games that required additional "accessories" to play them. and when you get board with the game, what the hell are you gonna do with a bulky ass accessory. they also just keep making "kiddy" games, thereby limiting their market to kids and dudes who are interested in weird games (which is few in the gaming market). also, the hardware is weak so many game developers skip it. its a shame. Nintendo used to be a console that released tons of awesome games. now it relies on too heavily on its exclusives, pumping 16 mario games variants. you know its running out of ideas when its has to rely on releasing "retro" games.

AWESOME. Earthbound finally gets the rerelease it deserves. I bought this game waaaaaay back in 1995and I knew I had a masterpiece of a video game in my hands. Back then it sold pretty poorly because Nintendo did not advertise it correctly, and there were alot of stupid people that ignored it. It is 2013 now and times have changed, so maybe people will get the urge to play this classic for the first time since they did not get the opportunity the first time. Hopefully it will do good despite the gaming industry trying to appeal more to the casual gamers than the hardcore gamers.

If Nintendo had any sense they'd have the virtual console on Wii, 3DS and Wii U all have the same games. The Wii virtual console is actually pretty good. If I could play my Wii virtual console games on my 3DS I'd play it a lot more. I want handheld versions of Mega Drive, N64 and SNES games, not just gameboy and gamegear games. 3DS virtual console is pathetic. It's bad enough not having the console virtual console that the Wii has, but it doesn't even have GBA games! And you know the worst part? They're actually capable of all of this. They just choose not to do it. For one, I already have and NES and 10 GBA games on 3DS from the ambassador program. Very frustrating.

They should also be cross platform licenses bought. I like Nintendo but hate greedy actions. Businesses seem to want to wring out every penny when I think sales would be higher if they gave better value. I doubt anyone has the numbers to prove one way or another.

@Temperedelm I did my research knobhead, i didnt say anything about downloading roms did i? No?..didnt think so, maybe dont jump into the line of fire until you are sure you have your bulletproof vest on DICKSPLASH! And FYI its actually NOT illegal to download SNES ROMS but it IS illegal to distribute them. So keep your nose out of things which are beyond your comprehension and go play pokemon or something a bit more fantasy based like your comments.

to everyone complaining about SNES not being on 3DS VC:

the 3DS has a resolution of 400 vertically. some SNES games have a resolution of 512 pixels. if SNES was on the 3DS, they would either have to remake it to fit the screen, or eliminate some lines of graphics from the game. id rather just keep SNES on wii u
