No Plans For Conan Exiles On Nintendo Switch

No plans, at least not yet.

Conan Exiles, the new sandbox action game from Funcom, is unlikely to get a Nintendo Switch version, it seems. Game director Joel Bylos told DualShockers that the studio currently has no plans to bring Conan Exiles to Nintendo Switch and has had no conversations with Nintendo.

Also in the interview, Bylos confirmed that Conan Exiles is already running on Xbox One internally. The game "looks pretty good," DualShockers reported, though Bylos apparently said the control system still needs work.

An in-development version of Conan Exiles is due out for Xbox One through the console's Game Preview system later this year. The game is already available on PC through Steam Early Access; it sold 320,000 copies in just one week after it was released earlier this year.

Conan Exiles is also coming to PlayStation 4, but a release date for Sony's system has not been announced.

Nintendo's weakness will always be poor 3rd party AAA support because they never make their hardware powerful enough to support 3rd party AAA titles. If by any chance good AAA support does comes to the Switch you can bet those games will be severely watered down to fit the Switch's hardware.

@thomasn7: The 32GB game cards are also not helping the system at the moment. A lot of games take up more than 32GB of space.

@GameboyTroy: Game cards are a necessity for any console that can be used outside of the home. I have a PSP and the UMD optical media causes freezes and skips anytime the system is exposed to a mild bump (think turbulence on planes, daily commute on subway or above-ground train).

You would be surprised how many sports and AAA FPS games are 32gb or less.

If Nintendo wants to have more games come to their device, they can offer bigger than the average cards to fit bigger games. If they did so for the DS, they can do so for the Switch. Or... is there no cards that can hold over 52GB? Or maybe they'd cost too much...

But at the same time, the Switch is supposed to be supported for a long time since they created it with 2TB cards in mind. So Nintendo might be planning something. Well, unless they reallywant to screw up again.

@GameboyTroy: It was a smart move to stick with micro SD cards. Capacities are going up and prices are coming down, which is music to my ears (Vita memory still very expensive, good luck finding anything bigger than 128GB).

@thomasn7: PS1 vs N64. It wasn't a question of power, but a question of CD vs cartridge. Both the N64 and PS1 received good exclusives anyway (3rd party, of course).

PS2 vs GameCube. It wasn't a question of power, it was a question of CD yet again. I think the GameCube CD was "too weird" for developers to deal with or something

Both the PS2 and the GameCube got good 3rd party support yet again. However, some games that were GameCube exclusive were later released on PS2 such as Viewtiful Joe (with Dante being a bonus character on PS2), Harvest Moon A Wonderful Life (with an extra bride added), Resident Evil 4, and Tales of Symphonia (remained an exclusive outside Japan).

Now, all this "Nintendo makes weak hardware" came since the Wii. Before the Wii, they were always on par with the competition.

During the NES and SNES generations, they were on par as well.

@kaminobenimizu: Great comment. The GameCube was let down by the mini-DVD proprietary media used -- I wish they stuck with standard DVD.

I would also argue that NES was ahead of the curve, and that the SNES was ahead of the Genesis (but behind other consoles).

Nintendo shouldve just made a 4k capable console with a good controller and backward compatability. A lot of gamers wouldve jumped ship for that.

@doccobb: Isn't this game online? If it's online, there will be lots of players, and thus, the Switch will lag as heck. If it's not online, yeah, it could run it.

Or maybe they don't want to waste their time discussing with Nintendo because "penis". There are penises in this game, right? If they were to cut that out (*BA DUM TISS!*) of the game, they'd have 2 versions. 1 with a penis, and the other without one.

And then they'd need to tweak the updates for the Switch everytime there's one. It'd take a lot of time and effort for that alone. I don't think they want a hassle out of this. They want every version to be as similar as possible to not take time with the updates.

Now that I think about it, nobody mentioned the Switch being too weak. 0_o

Skyrim doesn't even deserve to be treated as game of the decade after how dumbed down and stripped of RPG mechanics it is over the previous games, and the unusual special edition was a blatant cash grab after how their paid mods idea where they get the bigger cut didn't go down so well. There was already mods for that game which increased its graphics better than special edition did.

Also you are incorrect about the new version, it is now 64bit which removes the bottleneck thus mods that were never once possible now are. Modders will be able to make the new version far superior to the old modded version.

Total cash grab as well since owners of the old game on PC got the new one for free...

No, I was speaking about how the so called graphics increase of the special edition was no where near as great as graphics mods already available for the original version. You completely missed what I was saying, but this does in some way mean they made up for their wrong doing by attempting to make mods paid for.

Also ""dumbed down" a negative = easier to use, less convoluted...a positive ;P" is not the case at all, they stripped away a variety of OPTIONAL game content which helped the previous games to be more of an engrossing experience, that is in no way a positive.

@doccobb: i personally hope that the Switch can take over the 3DS and the devs starts to make all the jrpgs for the Swich so i can play them on my tv and not looking down on 2 small low res displays...

What i meant is that Mario Run and Fire Emblem games on smartphones are no competition to the 3DS.

We dont know yet if all 3DS games will be ported to the Switch as the main point of 3DS games was that they was very cheap to make compared to all other plattforms.

i admit the power and usefulness but I'm unwilling to trade a large screen for a super small one......

and PC v Mac is arbitrary in the grand scheme.....

@darthrevenx: i agree but... in the switchs case yes it can be played on a large screen but is no better than a smartphone in size really just the hardware and if u think microsoft and apple arent going to try to directly compete with the switch id say your misinformed because thats business and nintendo is too stubborn to give the ppl what they want and want to compete with xbox and playstation but it cant they need a better version switch 2.0 or admit it is not a home console experience and accept and say its a bery powerful tablet
