PS5 Price And Release Date Confirmed

The PS5 launches later this year, which gives you a couple of months to save for this price tag.

During the PlayStation 5 reveal event and subsequent streams, Sony remained tight-lipped regarding the pricing or release date of Sony's next-gen system. But as part of the latest PS5 showcase, which aired today, that information was finally revealed. As announced near the very end of the presentation, the PS5 will cost $500 / €500 / $750 AUD for the Standard Edition and $400 / €400 / $600 AUD for the Digital Edition. It will release on November 12.

According to the PlayStation Blog, November 12 will be the release date across several markets: the US, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea. November 19, the console will release across the rest of the world, including Europe, the Middle East, South America, Asia and South Africa.

Now Playing: PS5 Launch Date, Price, & Games - Everything You Need To Know In Under 3 Minutes

The release details were the culmination of a presentation that included trailers and new game announcements including Final Fantasy 16 and a new God of War. We also got fresh looks at Spider-Man: Miles Morales (which is also coming to PS4), the remake of Demon's Souls, and more.

Pre-orders for the console opened up unexpectedly shortly after the presentation. For the most up-to-date information on where you can reserve a console, consult our PS5 pre-order guide.

Microsoft recently detailed the price for Xbox Series X of $500 and a November 10 release date. On that same day, Xbox Series S will launch for $300. Xbox preorders go live on September 22. Sony previously indicated it's more concerned with PS5's value, rather than the price alone, although the Series S price potentially put pressure on Sony.

For information on where you can buy a system, consult our PS5 preorder guide.

The price is fine for the console. Unjustified for the games though. Esp an expansion like Spiderman, which has the very same game engine, it's ridiculous to claim a 70euro price tag.

However the worst part of it all is that the console only comes as white. Terrible decision. I raised money for this, but i ll wait for a different color.

Well surprise on the day of pre -order they are going on ebay for silly prices and somehow people are dull enough to pay between £500-£800 for one...silly arses...i managed to get mine from Argos UK store...yes it may of been short notice, but u can tell how popular the system is going to be..and yes Sony would of been dull not to put some games on the PS4..being the user base is rather high as it were..its not going to hold back the PS5 only improve upon, plus both MS and Sony got to have some sort of PR spin on things to get sales up...take care all..heres to next gen whatever system you get.. :)

While I especially enjoyed the show, the aftermath was a complete disaster. Sony told us preorders would not be a surprise, yet they would hold them literally the next day and not say a peep about it in their show. Then of course somehow they took them only like an hour after anyway lol. I know it's likely the retailers to blame, but Sony having literally only a day warning was a bad move.

And let's not forget the other slimeball moves. Why did they sneakily announce Miles Morales, Sack Boy and Horizon 2 would be coming to PS4 after constantly saying "we believe in generations" when MS had Halo cross gen and touted these games were only possible on PS5? Why is it that they sneakily announced their first party games will be $70? Why is it that Demon's Souls and Sack Boy were sneakily announced as launch games and not in the show? Why is it that FFXVI and Demon's Souls have a confusing exclusivity problem? This whole thing is a giant clusterfuck.

@xenomorphalien: They quietly leaked that those games will also be coming to PS4 because when Microsoft said they would continue supporting the Xbox One, Sony shot themselves in the foot by saying they won't make multi-generation games because it holds back game quality, they're thinking forward yada yada yada, trying to take Microsoft's positive and turn it into a negative. So they don't want to have to admit they were full of shit and validate that what Microsoft is doing is actually a smart idea and good for consumers.

@bdrtfm: Oh no question about that. In all honesty I welcome the decision as it saves consumers money. It just astounds me that people were roasting MS for that decision yet being upfront about it, while Sony gets caught trying to sneak by and nobody bats an eye.

Wow, checking current currency conversions, for $499 US dollars it should cost 386 pounds or 422 Euros.

52,285 yen on the other hand, compared to US dollar, so $477 dollars.

$590 US for Euro price

$581 US for British price

I used $499.00 Not sure why I didn’t just use $500, but it’s close enough.

Cool. Cheaper than I thought. Will definitely go with the disc version, but I'll wait a bit to hear when more games are announced, before buying

@HAWK9600: Probably smart. Plus, I always wait in case one of the consoles (or both) exhibits some sort of widespread hardware failure like the XBox-whatever did way back with the red ring of death or whatever we called it.

After learning that Miles Spider-Man, Horizon 2 and SackBoy (and possibly more) are coming to PS4 simultaneously.... only one question remains.

What's the point of a PS5 when

- It doesn't have Day 1 releases on PSNow.

- It doesn't have a robust Backwards Compatibility in order to keep playing your backlog of games you haven't been able to play.

- It doesn't have any way to revisit the hundreds of great games you bought on PS1, PS2, PS3, or the Vita.....so much for all those games you got free through PSN+.

- It's a console that is already overclocked....I wonder how much more advantage can Microsoft take if they would decide to overclock the Series X as well....🤔

- It doesn't offer a portable or cloud system to continue your gaming sessions on the go.....heck it doesn't even offer a free option to move your save files to the cloud

I could go on and on...but it makes me sad to keep thinking how far behind have Sony fallen in gaming...

@johnny0779: The thing I find funny is that everyone was dissing the Xbox Series X saying why should they buy one when all the games are coming to PC and of course every PlayStation owner also has a rockin' gaming PC. And then you watch the PlayStation event and keep seeing:

Console Exclusive

(also coming to pc)

LOL. Of course, not a word about this from all the people saying "Xbox got no sclusives cuz PC" Even many of their 1st party exclusives will come to PC. So there goes that argument.

@bdrtfm: As you said...No Sony gamers is willing to admit that PS5 has no true exclusives as we see Miles Spider-Man Horizon 2, SackBoy among others coming to PS4 as well

I'm not liking the $70 tag on some games. I'll do the usual wait a year after release.

Let's dig a little deeper on Sony's 180° abrupt chaotic mind...lol

On June 2020 Sony says:

All the PlayStation fans need not to worry as we will make sure to be reminded with PLENTY OF TIME AHEAD before pre-orders are ready to go live.

On September 2020:

Sony announces pre-orders are going live in a Twitt in less than 10 hours throwing retail partners and fans into stressful situations in which only scalpers with bots would benefit through it.

On June 2020 Sony says:

We believe in console transitions and for that matter we believe that bringing NEW games into older consoles would only hold those games true potential such it would be the case of Horizon 2.

On September 2020:

Sony announces Horizon 2 to also be Simultaneously release on PS4, the very same console Sony believes the game would hold its true potential!!

What's going on with Sony?....I know Microsoft have been making their lives impossible but they should know how to handle that type of stress.

Hopefully we can get that damn stimulus check. A new bill came out including the checks again. I wish both sides would come to some agreement already. It is getting ridiculous. I could buy both the PS5 and the 3080 graphics card with that check!

I like the modern router look I guess but I'm not buying this day 1. Gonna wait until the second wave drops because I don't want to find out later that the first editions have a defect much like when a new car model arrives... the new car models always have callbacks because something is defective... whether it's bad seatbelts or bad engines. I don't mind waiting, it's not a priority for me.

It’ll look like so strange but best announce for myself was debut trailer of new game in the Harry Potter universe. This is more important for me then PS5 price. But there was one strange moment: it’s a price on games. It seemed like a joke when Sony said about 80 euro for one copy. Why European gamers must pay so much when gamers in USA will be get one copy for 70 dollars, I have got no one idea.
