Refunds available for Battlefield 4 Premium after server woes

Unhappy Xbox One owners report they are able to receive refunds from Microsoft.

Multiple Xbox One owners are reporting on the Battlefield forums that after speaking with Microsoft Support, they were able to receive refunds for their $50 Battlefield 4 Premium subscriptions. It is not clear, however, if the refunds are being offered in a limited capacity or to anyone who asks for one.

The reasons for wanting a refund are obvious. Battlefield 4's launch has been marred by server woes, with some Xbox One owners reporting difficulty downloading the recent China Rising expansion.

As you would expect, it appears that getting a refund for Battlefield 4 means you'll have to relinquish the perks associated with the Battlefield 4 Premium subscription--including access to map packs, priority server position, and double XP events.

However, one user says on Twitter he was able to maintain all the Battlefield 4 Premium perks even after receiving a full refund. We've reached out to Electronic Arts for the official company position on the matter and will update the story if we hear back.

It is unclear if Sony is also offering Battlefield 4 Premium refunds for the PlayStation 3 or PlayStation 4 version of the game. The PS4 version has been hit especially hard by server woes, though DICE just today released a new update that promises to boost general stability.

I bought the game day one, got the premium pass, and have not ran into any issues with anything yet. I've sank tons of hours into 64-player conquest.

It randomly crashes on me constantly and is glitchy as ****... it has true potential but at times its almost unplayable for me. Its a shame they release this shit i really wanted them to bury COD but releasing a game with this many hang ups is un fucking acceptable.

Talk about an almighty mess by EA! As long as gamers have short-lived memories every single time these screw-ups occur (which is very often when talking about EA servers!), I'm afraid we'll continue to see games being rushed to retail to make a quick buck when the games are clearly NOT finished and are still just a work in progress...beta at best!

People need to start growing a pair and not buy full-priced retail games unless they are SURE they are getting a properly finished title. As long as people continue accepting mediocrity, failure and half-baked products, then these mess-ups will continue. The only way to stop this unfortunate trend which has been getting worse over the past several years, is to refuse to buy them. If you pay for a full-priced finished product with your hard-earned money during the worst recession in living memory where money is tight, then for goodness sake stop accepting products which are not finished by any stretch of the imagination. Have some standards & raise your expectations for quality.

Games marred with bugs and issues then would have been slammed immediately and developers simply could not get away with it! Imagine if Ocarina of Time (N64) was released with glitching issues, textures not loading or corrupted save files?! The dev's would not recover from this, these days it somehow seems acceptable to get half-baked titles on the shelves, why? Because we're all suckers! Seriously, it winds me up but I'm just as guilty as the next person, of course we all want these new releases, but when issues occur we need to make a stand and not accept it! We're paying a lot of money for games and I think it's fair to say companies such as EA are not short of funds! We are getting ripped off and they have almost convinced us it's ok!

I'm really looking forward to getting stuck into a new console generation, it may be great to have these new and powerful systems but if the games are just lazy cash-grabbing attempts for these faceless corporations to get even richer then it tends to leave a sour taste in the mouth. For example, you buy an xbox360 (cool, ok so opinions will vary!), connect to your internet (no probs!), get told to buy Xbox Gold to have access to online play (erm...ok I guess), buy a game to try some multiplayer (great fun) then get told to pay again for that developers online pass...eh, I think not! Over the years, the fee's have slowly but surely gotten heavier, I'm all for having a quality service but again, what's the point of paying all these membership fees, subscriptions and online passes if the game itself is plagued with screw ups?!

Extremely long story short (sorry, got carried away with the rant!), we need to stop accepting second rate treatment from the people who depend on our money, we should be the ones holding the reigns, and not be the ones succumbed to a dangling carrot of empty promises!

I still don't understand how is it that out of all the games released on launch, and keeping in mind this was out weeks before the consoles launched, that it's Battlefield 4 the one with the most screw ups. if anything I would expect COD which it's know for it's many server issues to be at the place BF4 it's now. Guess that's why DICE is stepping out from it and now EA needs a new team for next year. Hopefully whichever they use will have a better (and complete) product next time, and please let it be Bad Company 3.

I remember an article where DICE was bragging about how they managed to avoid a "Rockstar (GTAV) situation" in time for launch.

Of course, Rockstar makes better games. But now, they just look embarrassing. Now just to wait and watch their inevitable dlc ridden Star Wars games crash and burn as well.

The multiplayer and the campaign of the game can still be played as it just has issues that can and after awhile will affect the game. As for the campaign it dosen't really have any issues just as long as you don't play the online, as the campaign's saved game progress will be erased. So I am guessing it is fine and won't be erased if you play it from start to finish. The multiplayer seems to mostly have server side issues that cause numerous issues while playing.

I was not able to get into any matches yesterday. I know it's really hit or miss. True single player is still there but who purchase bf4 for that? I think it's unacceptable the game is still broken on all platforms. They should have delayed the release as they were going to.

I don't that this game will ever be fixed, because I don't that they can. I think that we are stuck with this game the way it is, because EA/Dice seems to be very incompetent as of late.

Dice used to be a great company that had great games and fixed the issues as quickly as they could, but it seems that they now have had to fall from grace and may slowly disappear into the light.

I should have just said Dice, because EA has been incompetent for years as for Dice that is new to them. I in a way feel sorry for them because EA makes them that way, and Dice was and still for now is a really good company but EA is going to ruin them for this and that sucks because this is EA fault.
