Resident Evil 5 ships 4 million

I dunno... RE5 is a great and well produced game, but a questionable, great, well produced game. I feel like Capcom is doing to Resident Evil what EA is doing to the Need For Speed series. The only reason RE5 is doing so well is because it's on the "NFS: Underground 2" stage of the Resident Evil series. They've got 1 or 2 more games until things turn for the better, or for worse depending on what they decide to do.

This game was and still is a blast! Very fun to play co-op and the cut scenes we're awesome.

the game looks great but i expected more. 4 was still a better game from a story standpoint and there's no way on god green earth i'm forking out 800 m$p for a versus mode which is standard on almost any other game these days. i almost feel blessed they didn't charge for co-op.

i think the atmosphere in RE4 is better, Re4 has a creepier atmosphere and RE5 has a more adrenaline rush type atmosphere were u gotta hurry up before u get run over by a mob of infected

The overall value for RE 5 surpasses any other Resident Evil to date. While it is debatable which Resident Evil has the best single player, RE 5 packs on so many nice little extras. For one, I like the new mission system, so I can go back and replay any mission whenever I want, as well as keep all the weapons I get. Downloadable content also promises new modes to play and what not.

the game is really intense and is very fun its definetly not as creepy as RE4 and not scary at all really just intense. i really wanted it to have something jump out at me and scare me like in RE4 but im half way through the game and that hasnt hapened. its dissapointing but the game is still fun!

i have to agree. it looks like resident evil has turned to being an action game instead of making gamers crap their pants. that feeling is priceless.

You know something? I really, really miss mindless, flesh eating zombies running amuck!!! They should re-make Resident evil 2 with Dawn of the Dead "remake" (by Zack Snyder no less) type zombies running around trying to eat your flesh.... Thats what Capcom should do...... I'm glad for Capcom they are a good developer and give credit where credit is due. I just wish they would stop charging $5 dollars for the versus mode.....

why do some people find it hard to just try to appreciate a clearly awesome game...well i guess as long as there are good games there will always be haters

i hope this is a growing trend of mulitplatform releases across the board. it makes no sense to me as why a company would limit its retail sales to one platform. the goal of business is to make a product that you believe in, and then sell as many units of said product as possible.

"survival horror" riiiiiiiiiight. just call it a mediocre action game with one of the most laughably bad stories ever written in a video game. this game was re 4 + gears of war + a blatant rip off of the matrix story and characters. worst re ever....

Smart of them to also give it to Xbox 360

Resident Evil 5 is one amazing game. I miss the survival horror part of it though; the game isn't scary enough. :P

Despite a few problems, the game is still amazing, intense, and the action is gripping.

I do believe when a manufacturer ships a certain amount of the product they are responding to the "supply/demand" criteria. So in doing so the understanding is that most of what is being ship is going to be sold. Considering the hype, and consumer demand for this game I have no doubt that most of that 4 million shipped is going to be in the hands of eager gamers.

Good for Capcom. The quality of Resident Evil 5 is something I have rarely seen in many years of gaming. The only game I can think of that matches it is MGS 4. What is with Japanese developers? And I frankly think that it would have deserved more than an 8.5 on behalf of Gamespot. It`s why I trust Giant Bomb for my game ratings. They are alway spot on.

The number of units shipped does't really matter much. What truly matters is the number of units actually sold. Those are the meaningful figures.

sorry capscom since you didn't include multiplayer with the initial purchase I won't be one of those sales...

I wasn't impressed by the demo at all and this game seems more like a rental to me. But, whatever floats peoples boat.

That's a lot of zombie killing. I really hope .00001% of that 4 million actually fell for Capcom's multiplayer BS.........I mean DLC ;).

Wow, so 4 Million people (including myself) don't have a life now because of this game...well, it was worth it ;-) lol

by the way, how did SFIV sell compared to Resi on day one? I know ppl who don't even play fighting games picked up Street Fighter just because of the history or whatever reason...all in all, Capcom is making money hand over fist and the 1st quarter isn't even over yet.

they stuck with the old "walk or shoot" mechanic because it really makes you decide whether you want to fight or run, not both. if you could run n' gun, it would lose a lot of the micromanaging aspect which, in my opinion, would take away from the franchise's core gameplay beliefs.

RE4 was better imo, but I'm still impressed with resi5...it's just hard to top RE4 after it revived the series with its new direction in such a dynamic way.

i got the collector's edition, and i'm glad i did. I love this game, and i don't care what people say about the controls, and not being able to run n gun. Tha graphics and the story are still here, and it's still really fun. I like this game and that's all that matters.

This game will sell well on its name alone. I'm sure every single one of those copies will eventually be sold. I'm yet to be convinced however. Flame away but I believe it is about time some companies stepped outside their comfort zone and made the effort to innovate rather than put out sequals all the time. Capcom had the opportunity to do this with RE4 but I see from video that even RE5 still relies on the old move or shoot function. Oooh, I can now walk sideways at a shuffle at the same time, wow. Walk or shoot, WTF. 13 years and they still have that bloody hackneyed cripple device as a game mechanic. Toss. We expect more for our money these days, so how about a bit of realism and let the bloody character walk at the same time as he bloody aims his gun. Come on, stop being bloody lazy developers and put out games that are substance over style, not the other way round.

is it just me that think the versus mode should have came with the game and not cost 5$...its only 5 dollars but come on that should be included with the 69.99 plus tax i payed for it

Not only are they comparing it to previous resident evil titles but they compare it to gears of war as if every game now should take a page from gears of war and be like that. im happy to see that somebody agrees with me

Not being able to move and shoot at the same time ruins this game it was fine 4 years ago, but Capcom come on times have changed, the only reason you dint change it is because you are Japanese game developers and as everyone knows Japanese (most of them) cant use the right stick, that's why you can't move and shoot its too hard for them.

@zmbi_gmr i lol'd also resident evil 5 is named such, because its, get this, the FIFTH game in the series. o.O

I'm am flat out disappointed! I wouldn't be if it was called something else but it's NOT Resident Evil

the gameplay sucked and it didnt look special in anyway, if anything they were below what you would expect for an IP of this magnitude
