Resident Evil 6 to sell 7 million

Its time for journalists and other people talking about the "survival horror franchise" to realize that resident evil is now an action "adventure franchise", using the words survival horror might confuse some fan of those kind of games.

Or to be more accurate they should say, the action adventure franchise born as a survival horror...

At least, from what i've been reading on various forums most original or true fans of resident evil wont be buying it, but im afraid the future of the franchise isnt in the hands of the people that made it so great in the first place anymore.

They have Dragon's Dogma down to sell 1.4 million! Dark Souls only sold 1.19 mil. That was a great game, and a sequel with a solid fan base. Seriously, would anyone expect anything less than the company publishing the game to inflate the estimated sales figures?

I think it may surpass sales expectations, just like RE5. I'm personally excited for this one; based on the previews, I'm pumped. Can't wait for E3.

If the pacing, tension, boss fights are like RE4 or atleast resembles the old RE games and if doesnt have any bad PR before or after release ( On disk DLC fiasco) then maybe they can reach that target but if it is anything like the Poor mans Gears of War clone RE5 then you will have a problem.

I'm probably not going to be one of those first 7 Million. Lets face it, Capcom has been a let down over the last few years. With the Canceled Megaman games, the disappoints in Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, the Hidden on disc DLC in the latest Street Fighter X Tekken and the latest horrors in Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City, I'm going to pass on this title and wait for it hit below $30 bucks.

I don't know how they found this number, but I believe it's pretty unrealistic to expect a certain a sale number before the game release. It's not logical.

Agreed. If Resident Evil 5 sold close to 6 million worldwide, 6 could, indeed, fare better.

I've been following this franchise since it's very beginning, so this time it won't be any different = day 1 buy! I know I'm stupid for not waiting till the price drops, but I'm just a sucker for RE games...

Which is sad, because the direction in which they're taking it is pretty horrible. I don't want to play a crappy, third-person Call of Duty clone. Oh sorry, I meant action title.

Really? Don't expect me to buy it anymore. I'm done buying games from Capcom. I haven't bought a game from them since 2009 and it's going to remain that way until they learn discipline and cater to their OWN fans!

I hope it does sell well. So then all the people can find something more to complain about instead of just shutting up. Either playing it, or not. It doesn't effect your life if you don't buy it. RE5 was a fantastic game!!!

Sadly it probably will get a couple of millions just for the name alone.

However I will not be one of them after the past few awful RE games and the Disc Locked Content scams they have pulled, I can no longer support Capcom or any company that does that.

I hate to say it but they are right with the amount of money they are putting into it will sell well and many people prefer the new style RE to the old traditional style. 7 Mil isn't a stretch by any means when games like COD are sell much more. There will likely be a big ad blitz campaign too which has proven to increase sells. It will be a good game but the horror part has long gone. Its ironic how RE ushered in the horror genre and is now playing a major part in stifling it.

RE 5 wasn't very good, it was a bit of a step backwards in the series I think. Street Fighter on the other hand... hot sauce, man. Hot sauce.

I was 100% buy on Re6, but the recent actions of capcom have me worried. I'm going to wait to buy until after a month or two and see where the game stands.

I'm buying for co-op only and I've really enjoyed past RE games. I hope this doesn't turn out bad.

So DmC is going to sell two million copies now... What happened to those five million copies you expected, Capcom?

Anyway, I'm just relieved that DmC is finally getting released this year, that way a real Devil May Cry sequel can finally get worked on. Hopefully Platinum Games can get to work on it.

Highly unlikely. Not sure even the old Capcom (the one that doesn't shoot themselves in the foot constantly with Megaman and DLC) could pull this one.

after your on disc dlc and the farce that is REORC i wouldnt put your hopes up for a fall its possible but i dont know i personaly have loved the resident evil games since i was a kid. and i already bought a copy i just hope the idiot AI i saw in sheva in 5 is fixed.

lol at Capcom. Got a feeling there will be some DLC tricks with RE6, already turning me away from it. I'll pick it up if it's like re4 (one of my fav games). If it's like re5 i'll pick it up when the gold edition hits $20 :)
