Super Mario Bros. actor Bob Hoskins dies

I bet he got cancer from the movie.

Was saddened by the news. One of my favorite guilty pleasure B movies is Lassiter which in Mr. Hoskins was great. Will be missed.

I don't get why some people look at Super Mario Bros. as the "worst" video game movie to this day. Over the last ten years or so we been giving even worse video game films, anyone here forgot about Uwe Boll's films? Super Mario Bros. also gained a cult following over the years.

Super Mario Bros. is not a good movie, but there was something there that made it likable. As far as Bob Hoskins saying he dislike the making of the film, that's really what he didn't like about it, the whole process of making the film. He never said anything about the quality of the film itself. Also, he was in Son of the Mask. . .I find it hard to believe that Super Mario Bros. is worse than that film.

PS. I like the Van Damme Street Fighter and Double Dragon.

Gamespot really had to remember him as the guy who played Mario?

@freedomzealot A lot of people actually like the Super Mario Bros. movie for how weird and dumb it is. If you read interview, he was talking about the whole experience of MAKING the film that made it on his worst films he ever made, as oppose to the quality of the film itself.

I seriously doubt that Super Mario Bros. is the worst film seeing how Hoskins was in Son of the Mask.

One of the few truly talented actors, sad day ;/

As a kid I loved Who Framed Roger Rabbit, saw it too many times to count. Heck I even loved the Super Mario Bros. movie despite it being a bad movie.

Anyway, R.I.P. to Mr. Hoskins.

I didn't realise he was as old as that. It's a real shame. He always seemed to be able to pull off a variety of roles. He was a cornerstone of British acting.
