If you want Hades to get the top spot, you'll want to act fast.

The Game Awards will air on December 10, 2020, and voting for the Player's Choice game of the year is still open. Separate from the full nominee list, voted on by press and industry, the third and final round of the Player's Choice vote has whittled the entries down to five games, with one a clear frontrunner.

The five titles, in order of votes right now, are as follows:

Now Playing: The Last Of Us Part II Video Review

  • The Last of Us Part II
  • Ghost of Tsushima
  • Hades
  • Doom Eternal
  • Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales

You can vote for your favorite right here.

It's a very PlayStation-heavy list, except for Hades--which is also the only game of this five to get a 9/10 review from GameSpot.

At the time of writing, The Last of Us Part II has 40% of the vote, and Ghost of Tsushima has 34%. As this is a player-driven vote, games that sold well naturally have an advantage, and both games have been huge success stories. The Last of Us Part II was the fastest-selling PlayStation 4 game, and Ghost of Tsushima was the fastest-selling new PlayStation IP.

Last year's winner was Fire Emblem: Three Houses, but Nintendo fans seem not to have mobilized this year--Animal Crossing: New Horizons bowed out after round 2.

You can vote for the Player's Choice award until December 7, at 11:59PM PT.

Reminds me of that license plate I saw about this entire year, 2020WTF. Game of the Year Award goes to the team that famously said, those who liked the first game are going to hate this one.

@toonami4life: story was great. environments were great. Game mechanics were great. Visually looks great. The lore was great. It's not perfect, had some filler content that I could've gone without but overall a piece of art in my eyes.

@restatbonfire: for me the story was crap environments were good game mechanics were mediocre visually looks great but then again it's a PlayStation exclusives they all look great. To call this a piece of art I really would have to question your taste in art... not to mention games should be Games first and art second

@toonami4life: well, good thing art is subjective and it's worth what you find it's worth. I'm not gonna try to understand how you think that story was crap. Out of curiosity, what is your game of the year then?

@toonami4life: People just have different tastes. The nonstop frantic action of Doom does my head in now (I used to love it as a young'n 25+ years ago). 4'ish hours of Doom Eternal was enough for me and I never went back.

I personally enjoy the slower pace of TLoU 1+2 (even if it gets a touch too slow here and there). Completed them both twice so far. Doom, I'm not even tempted to try again.

@analgrin: @analgrin: tempted to make an old man joke but that's beneath me... nevertheless what I like about Doom Eternal is that it's actually a game. Let's be honest Last of Us 1 and 2 are just interactive movies... the gameplay of them are just your generic third person gameplay with basic crafting mechanics

@toonami4life: gameplay/mechanics on tlou2 is on a completely different level than most Games. Just because it has a story, doesn't justify putting it in a interactive movie category. It's got plenty more gameplay than cutscenes.

It's an action game with some crafting. It doesn't need a more complicated system. It suits it perfectly.

I'll give you visuals. It looks good, but the rest was average to below average...especially the story, which was flat out just bad. But even some liked Battlefield Earth, so guess there are some who could like the story.
