The Witcher 3 Won't Receive PS4 Pro Upgrades

CD Projekt Red is focused on its new games.

While a number of already-released games will be patched to take advantage of various PlayStation 4 Pro features, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will not be one of them.

CD Projekt Red confirmed the news with Eurogamer, indicating it's more interested in focusing on future projects than returning to an old one.

"Since we want to fully focus on Cyberpunk 2077 and Gwent, and converting The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt from a full HD game into a 4K one would be too much of a time and resource-consuming process, we decided not to release an edition of Wild Hunt supporting the new features of PlayStation Pro," the company said.

Eurogamer points out that the game does offer 4K support on PC, though that doesn't mean that enabling it on PS4 Pro would necessarily be an easy task. This also doesn't rule out the possibility that the game will simply run better on Pro, as some Xbox One games do on the Xbox One S.

A number of existing and upcoming games are receiving support for PS4 Pro features, including 4K and HDR (which is now available on all PS4s), or improved visual effects and frame rates when playing at 1080p. Specifics for most of the games confirmed to receive Pro upgrades have not yet been announced, but we do know about a handful that you can read about here.

The "Pro" enhancements really should be coming to the existing Sony studio games, not so much the third party's anyways.

@smokerob79: It wouldn't hurt but if I had to choose, I'd prefer all the released PS4 exclusives get the upgrade since I have access to all the multi plats on PC, as do all the other gamers Sony claims to want to keep from PC gaming.

@howthegodzkill: i totally get your PC argument as i only have a one and PS4 for games i cant get on PC BUT we are not the norm.....sony and soon MS will need to sell to the "every" man to get the most traction in selling the new hardware.....and on top of that a ton of games only on one console came from 3rd party game makers.....what is really the problem is getting the game makers to put money in to making already out games look better.....and to get them to make new games with 2 levels of hardware to work with.....what happens if none of the game makers use the extra hardware and just make to the old levels of the ONE and 4???.....if the 20 games only from sony are the selling point of the PRO its already a flop.......

@smokerob79: The third parties will do the bare minimum, if anything at all, and only the first party games will take advantage. So what I've been saying all this time is true. Shocking.
