Witcher 3 Wild Hunt Pre-Order Bonuses

Whether you plan on buying the physical or digital edition prior to its release, the developer has a lot of available extras.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is set to release next month on May 19, but will it be worth picking up the game early? We already know Wild Hunt could be over 200 hours long, and that it will include "dynamic beard growth," but the real deciding factor generally comes down to what you get out of the box and what you get if you pre-order.

Regardless of when you order the game, the standard edition includes quite a bit of content:

  • CD with the official soundtrack
  • Developer-created "The Witcher Universe: Compendium"
  • Physical map of the in-game world
  • Set of Witcher 3 stickers
  • Protective sleeve

And we've seen the $150 collector's edition before, but here's a quick look at the more expensive box.

And everyone who purchases the game, pre-order or not, will have access to free DLC. The team plans on releasing 16 DLC packs total, with a new bundle available each week after launch. The first is the Temerian Armor Set, which includes horse armor, and a Beard and Hairstyle Set for Geralt.

Pre-Order Bonuses

Preorder from GameStop for an "exclusive Witcher keychain." The tchotchke will either ship with your game if you order online or be available in store when the game is purchased.

Amazon pre-orders will net you "the Amazon exclusive Witcher comic created by Paul Tobin, with art by Max Bertolini and covers by Joe Querio." According to the Amazon listing, "This 48-page hardcover comic describes the events preceding the Killing Monsters trailer."

No Caption Provided

Best Buy pre-orders get access to the SteelBook case pictured above.

But if you decide to forego physical editions, digital orders come with their own set of pre-order incentives and perks.

No Caption Provided

The list of perks for the Steam version include:

  • 10% off
  • An additional 5% off if you own either The Witcher Enhanced Edition or The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition
  • Digital game soundtrack
  • Digital wallpapers
  • Digital world map
  • Digital artbook
  • Digital "artworks"

GOG.com is running a similar digital promotion, but with a few specific additions:

  • Everything included in the above Steam version including the 10% discount and additional 5% for previous franchise ownership
  • Total of 20% off if you own both The Witcher 1 and 2 and GOG
  • Digital download of Neverwinter Nights (available now)
  • Digital comics House of Glass and Reasons of State
  • Witcher PDF templates for papercraft toy figurines
  • Extended soundtrack with four exclusive tracks
  • Avatar pics
  • A video about the game’s creation and all trailers in 1080p

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt launches on May 19 for PC, Xbox One, and PS4. And for even more information about the game prior to its release, you can read GameSpot's previous Witcher coverage here.

I pre-ordered the retail Collector's Edition for PC in order to support CD Projekt two years ago. Well, I've never bought a game with such a high price though. But this one is worth it.

Actually a hard copy wouldn't be bad assuming you could just activate it on GoG, but I already pre-ordered straight from GoG a long time ago (and I don't typically pre-order).

Got the Collector's Edition on PC pre-ordered since last June and I pre-ordered the PS4 digital version since my computer won't run it. That's alright. Saving for a new pc. The Witcher is awesome.

You can't get this stuff in a standard edition of a game anymore, everyone else calls it a "collector's edition" and charges an extra $20 or more. Kudos to CDPR.

If you don't want to pre-order the game then don't. No one is "FORCING" you to buy it. Just get the game when you want and be done with it.

There is no preorder bonus for TW3. You get all the same stuff if you just buy the game at release or after release...

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> That's all shop-specific physical pre-order bonuses, paid by the retailer, not CDPR. For example you can get a comic at Amazon or a map at Gamestop. But there are no classic pre-order bonuses by CDPR themselves like additional stuff in the game or additional digital bonuses. You'll get all of that after release as well.

And free NWN? Come on. Every half-serious RPG gamer who is interested in that already own it... ;)

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> and let me get this str8...Having the same stuff for everyone is a bad thing because....? CDPR is actually trying to open up to the crowd , which although i usually perceive as an invite for trouble (mainstream gamers are simply too illogical and shallow for my Taste) it does make me happy that they are TRYING to create something that MORE ppl can enjoy , even if it comes back biting their asses cause ppl are always ungrateful.
let's sit back and actually think HOW many high profile developers give half , not even 1, HALF a $HiT about gamers themselves... hmmm... OH that's right! NONE! Especially the likes of BioFail that sell their mother for an extra dollar! So unless you were simply making an observation with that first remark, (in which case ignore my whole text :P) you should give those lines a thought

The Witcher circle jerkers are getting retarded, the game has couple of pre-launch DLC and more confirmed after launch, Pre-order bonuses, in game transactions and a bunch of this crap made simply for squeezing every last dime out of the consumer...

Then when other games come out people flame, I get it, you like Witcher, but there is no excuse for this. Plenty of high quality hard core games are made without all this cancer. Stop defending them, or this will only escalate, they are running a business, just like EA games, people seem to forget that

You are wrong,

Yes CDPR is running a business. But except for the game (which is reasonable) all this stuff DLC etc. is free.

I suggest that you actually watch the 3 videos Gamespot made on the subject.

<< LINK REMOVED >> What "cancer" are you talking about? It's not like you get extra game content for pre-ordering, it is all stuff for fans of CDPR (the kind of people who would be pre-ordering); things like artbooks and maps of the game world. There are zero extra dimes you can give them that will improve or expand the game itself, and there are no microtransactions. Zero of the things you're saying are actually true.

Every business is out to make money, nobody disputes that. But some do it by making a good product that people want to pay for, and that is what CDPR does. We *should* praise and promote companies who do that rather than by nickle-and-diming, yet here you are slandering them and belittling people for praising a company that does it right. Your behavior is almost as much a problem as the crap EA pulls, because it mitigates one of the only tools we consumers have to correct the behavior of these companies: giving good press to good companies.

<< LINK REMOVED >> I do agree, though - they are running a business and deserve to make money on their product. People shouldn't assume they are "out for our own good". But their actions speak for themselves: the fact that they are a business is exactly why it is notable and commendable that they are giving away all these optional extras DLC instead of nickel and diming you for it. You can hate the love of CDPR all you want, but their business practices are demonstrably more consumer friendly than a lot of big companies. It doesn't mean they aren't out for our money - but it does mean they take a higher road to get there and that's what counts.

I love that nothing is being offered in game, there shouldn't be any exclusive content crap "because you bought the console that payed us the most..." Super annoying and also they are putting the soundtrack... A map....and an information book on the witcher universe... That is awesome. I know to create a cd costs less than a quarter to make and all of this stuff is really inexpensive but that is all the more reason game makers should give us stuff like that, projekt Red is really setting the bar with this release. I believe and hope witcher 3 is the best selling game ever not only because of how much work they put into it but then maybe other developers will take notice and change their act. Either way I hope the player base will realize how little the other developers are doing, and possibly, hopefully, noticing how much they screw the fan base by trying to squeeze money out of us with DLC that should have been in the game originally, very BIG props to Projekt Red, and a huge thank you.

A game worth pre-ordering if there are good incentives. With all the extra development time should be clean out of the box and not a bug-fest.

This is why I love CDPR. I don't care for Collector's Editions for physical copies, but this is just an amazing deal for PC gamers. I really hope that even after going multiplatform with TW3 that CDPR will continue to put PC first and always remember their roots like DICE.

Just a tip: Buying directly from GoG (digital edition) gives the most money to CDPR as their parent company owns GoG. Go through any other third party such as Steam, Gamestop, Amazon, Best Buy, etc. and CDPR only gets a fraction of the cost. Not to mention, GoG has no DRM like Steam. Go GoG!
