Xbox Boss Reacts to Nintendo Switch Announcement

"I'm always impressed with their ability to state a bold vision and build a product that delivers on that vision."

Following the announcement of the Nintendo Switch today, Xbox boss Phil Spencer has commented on the new console. In a tweet, Spencer said he was impressed by what Nintendo had to show.

"I'm always impressed with their ability to state a bold vision and build a product that delivers on that vision," he said to a person who asked him to share his thoughts.

Spencer, who has said he finds console war debates to be "distasteful," has not shied away from praising the competition, including Sony and the PlayStation 4. For Nintendo specifically, he said earlier this year that Microsoft's partnership with Nintendo for Minecraft has been "great."

Nintendo Switch is the new name for NX, which was the console's codename up until today. As rumored, the system is a console/mobile hybrid, allowing you to play in the home or on the go. The console has detachable controllers for on-the-go gaming and a docking station for when you're at home.

Pricing has not been announced, but we know the Nintendo Switch will come out in March 2017.

@Moonco: It won't. I have the Xbox One S which has 4K blu ray player with HDR that outputs to my 4K HDR TV, allowing me to watch 4K streaming content and play HDR-enabled games. Switch doesn't even take discs, it is more of a handheld gaming device that allows you to play on your big screen with better graphics. I will definitely be investing in the Switch rather than PS4 Pro since I already have PS4 and it plays HDR. Switch renders PS4 Pro almost absolutely pointless, the upscaling to 4K capability is not worth the money for upgraders.

But since you're going to talk about logic you surely shouldve considered Nintendos past track record of stubborn failures. Despite them, they decide to release yet another handheld (that's cartridge based of all things) thus leaving themselves, again, out of the competition with Sony and MS for another one-hit-wonder gimmick.

Which every gamer worth their weight in Mountain Dew knows is a bad idea. But here you are saying MS is "****** their pants." Really? And you want to debate logic. Go home fanboy, you're drunk.

Wanna talk about accomplishments? How about Obamas ability to grow the national debt higher in his 1st term than the last two presidents combined. Or how about his letting unemployment go to a whopping 11% to G.W.Bush's 4.5%?

Did you forget the broken health care system He created and forced on Americans that penalizes the hard working middle class and businesses by dropping health plans and doubling premiums?

Or how about the hemorrhaging borders from Mexico that are flooding the US with illegals that pay NO taxes, raise the crime rate but are still allowed to collect benefits? Remember the whole Amnesty push?

Don't forget the surge of military back into the Middle East that he promised would be pulled before the elections. He never did. There are more soldiers in Afghanistan today than when Bush was in office. Oh, and Guantanamo is STILL open. He promised to close that too. Another lie.

What about the dozens of terrorist attacks Globally? Many of which were on US soil since his inauguration, on his watch!

But let's not forget the awesome accolades with racial tension! Yup, racism hasn't been this high since the 60's when LB Johnson was in office (another corrupt Democrat).

So congrats! He was in office when the US FINALLY got Bin Laden AFTER the damage was already done. Let's give him credit right? Well guess what, by your logic, all the above is credited to him too.

@louixiii: Also, if you've ever taken an economics class, you'd know that recessions always rebound (see recession shapes). Obama did inherit it, but he also did nothing to help or fix it. Stimulus did nothing, but fill bankers wallets. On top of that, the recession mostly the fault of the Democrats forcing banks to give loans to unqualified individuals. They were warned several times about this.

Second, he had nothing to do with gas prices. It was fracking (which he opposed) that was the result in the reduction of prices.

Third, I have no disagreement with you on the Bin Laden issue. Anyone who was president at the time would have done the same thing... so I'm not sure if you could consider that an accomplishment.

Fourth, him "pushing" for legalization of marijuana means nothing. It was the people and the states that pushed it through. As a matter of fact, recently the Obama administration (FDA I believe) declared that marijuana had no beneficial properties what so ever. Which is completely false. He bowed down to big pharma. It may not have been him who said this, but he is the boss.

Lastly, I actually agree with you on the school/debt thing. I'm not completely anti-Obama, just as I'm not completely anti-bush, but I feel they both did more harm than good.

The NEO was cool, but they went with Pro. The NX was cool too but then went with Switch. Scorpio is the coolest of them all so far but likely end up being the dumbest name like Xbox Round-A-Bout or something. These guys need to keep the code names for once, they tend to always be better than the official names.
