Xbox One and PS4 Getting New Six-Games-in-One Mega Man Collection

Six games in one package.

Capcom on Monday announced Mega Man Legacy Collection, an upcoming game that includes "faithful reproductions" of the original six Mega Man games. The collection also comes with a new challenge mode and a collection of images, concept art, and other assets from the iconic franchise's history.

No Caption Provided

The game, which will be available only as a download, launches this summer for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, with a release for the Nintendo 3DS to follow this winter.

Mega Man Collection's new challenge mode "remixes gameplay segments from all six games." Capcom also says that difficulty is scalable, meaning the game should appeal to both veterans and newcomers alike.

Capcom's other big announcement today was the confirmation of its E3 plans. The Japanese publisher isn't holding a marquee briefing like Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo, but the company will have a booth on the E3 show floor. Games including Mega Man Collection, Resident Evil 0 HD, and Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition will be playable.

In addition, Street Fighter V will make its first appearance at a major event at E3 next week. There will be a tournament stage and "interactive" photo opportunities.

E3 2015 kicks off this coming Sunday and runs through the following week. GameSpot will be on the ground in Los Angeles, bringing you all the news from the show as it's announced.

8bit HD is just silly. Reason 8bit worked well as sd was it slightly blurred pixels together, making a better picture.

Europe never got Mega Man: The Anniversary Collection and there's a possibility that this colliction is based on Rockman Complete Works rereleases that, to my knowledge, are Japan only.

Vocal majority GS community complain "we don't want DMC or Resi re-releases, give us MM!"

Xbox 1 and PS4 get six of the best Mega-Man games. And even on 3DS later on.

GS community continue to complain "not good enough"

You people disgust me!

@RSM-HQ: Capcom used to be a reputable publisher willing to take excellent "risks" for high return. Okami, Viewtiful Joe, Devil May Cry, Bionic Commando...etc notice i didn't mention mega man ONCE.

Those games were niche, but they were critically acclaimed. Unfortunately the most recent of those, were TEN years ago. Since then Capcom has been on a consistent decline rehashing old IPs investing minimal amount of overhead to max out profit. There is no novelty, no creativity, just making money.

So bringing back games that are older than many of us, with no update no graphical overhaul (ty at least for doing ducktales justice) and charging money? Yes I AM holding Capcom responsible because they have done SO much better. I still will never forgive them for dissolving cloverfield, the dev that brought us the classic Okami for the sake of making money.

Capcom, NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

@RSM-HQ: did you know that there was an anniversary edition on the PS2/GC/XBOX and it had more content than this one? It had Megaman 1-8 and 2 of the Arcade games (Megaman Power Battles and Megaman 2 Power Fighters), also some other bonus content (depending on the version you bought)

@freedom01: Two generations old, all in SD resolution, no extra features, "The collection also comes with a new challenge mode and a collection of images, concept art, and other assets from the iconic franchise's history."

And then achievement support 'though I assume that's an easy thing to add in comparison to the above.'

My point was people complained all over the Resident Evil Remastered for Mega-Mans best games here at GS, and now that they have them. They complain anyway. Because it's "not enough".

@RSM-HQ: He has a point. Also, I don't want remake after remaster after reissue, I want a new fucking game -- and not some goddamn tap-to-win tablet game. What a joke.

@metroidhunterx: Rereleasing the older Mega-Mans was in high demand for current gen. As my original post states.

Noone can deny new is always a necessity; though let's not act like this in anyway prevents new titles. Unless it's a complete flop.

I have never played a mega man game, so it will be my first time playing one. Can't wait now, especially since it is going to be released during the summer drought.

@guydude3412: You might want to invest in a new controller, while you're at it. If this is the first time you're playing these games, you're controller is going to take a beating.

Would have been nice to have every Megaman game released from 1987-2015 on one Blu Ray disc. A grand collection for Xbox one and PlayStation 4 as well as PC. along with a booklet on the history of Megaman series.

They should have included 9 and 10 also as they're in the same style and already in HD.

This is such a rip-off:

Glad I still own both, along with the older consoles. This is what you get for supporting HD ports

WTF guys, stop complaining, seriously. You should be very happy to be able to play these 6 games cleaned up on a modern system, in HD! I certainly am, haven't played them for years!

@OMGMrTea: Dude, this collection came out like 10 years ago on the PS2 and Gamecube and included Mega man 1-8 plus power Battle and Power fighters. This collection is a ******* rip-off. Keep supporting junk like this and devs will keep shoving up-rezed ports down our throats.

@huerito323: To be fair it's not that hard to HD remaster an 8-bit game, now those newfangled 16-bit ones I'm sure will be more of a challenge /sarcasm.

@OMGMrTea: Very well said! Well I was expecting X series, but I will certainly get this collection. I just hope it's not so expensive and the store sells the game for 10 dollars (around), more than that would be expensive.

Wish they would give us the Megaman Battle Network series in a bundle. That's the only Megaman series I've actually been a fan of and it would be awesome to run through that series again.

Meh, already own Mega Man and Mega Man X collections on PS2 and Gamecube. No need to waste money on this crappy version. If they were going to do a Legacy they should have included ALL the Mega Man 1-10,, all the MMX 1-8 and the 3 Mega Man Legend games. They could even throw in Tron Bonne as well. This would be the only time I'd buy a Mega Man collection from Capcom.

Instead of coming up with a real massive collection, they'll see how it sells. And then, they'll come up with some DLC for us to purchase all of the X series in a row, along with Mega Man 7 and 8 Anniversary Edition.

Microtransactions, you know...

I have the Mega Man Collection ( for Xbox. But it works on my Xbox360 too ) It has all the number Mega Man games. up to the Sega Saturn era. Heck! It even has the Arcade games. ( which is just Boss Rush with better graphics! ) The bottom line is! Crapcom! Call me when you make a Mega Man X Collection ( for this era of consoles and PC! ) What a waste!

I know that it's not in vogue for 3rd party publishers to support the WiiU, but I GUARANTEE this will sell very well on the system. They're already doing a F***ING 3DS PORT for Christ's sake.
