Xbox One and PS4 Getting New Six-Games-in-One Mega Man Collection

Six games in one package.

Capcom on Monday announced Mega Man Legacy Collection, an upcoming game that includes "faithful reproductions" of the original six Mega Man games. The collection also comes with a new challenge mode and a collection of images, concept art, and other assets from the iconic franchise's history.

No Caption Provided

The game, which will be available only as a download, launches this summer for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, with a release for the Nintendo 3DS to follow this winter.

Mega Man Collection's new challenge mode "remixes gameplay segments from all six games." Capcom also says that difficulty is scalable, meaning the game should appeal to both veterans and newcomers alike.

Capcom's other big announcement today was the confirmation of its E3 plans. The Japanese publisher isn't holding a marquee briefing like Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo, but the company will have a booth on the E3 show floor. Games including Mega Man Collection, Resident Evil 0 HD, and Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition will be playable.

In addition, Street Fighter V will make its first appearance at a major event at E3 next week. There will be a tournament stage and "interactive" photo opportunities.

E3 2015 kicks off this coming Sunday and runs through the following week. GameSpot will be on the ground in Los Angeles, bringing you all the news from the show as it's announced.

I dunno... to me, if they want to look like they're putting effort into such a package and offer something legitimately new at the same time, they should've stuck Mega Man 1-10 in a package like this, with 7 and 8 having alternate 8-bit versions (that's where the new part comes in). They don't even have to do any work themselves to do an 8-bit 7 and 8... those exist already on the PC and they're literally perfect in terms of look, sound and feel to the legitimate 8-bit Mega Man games.

I like the idea of the challenges though... that could be fun if designed the right way. As it stands though, as sad as it is for me to say this... I have a better Mega Man Collection on a PS2 disc.

"Only as a download"?

We'll see about that. They said the same thing about the new Strider game and I happen to have a physical Japanese copy on my shelf that plays completely in English on my American PS3.

If that's the case with this collection, I will be importing again.

Oooooo.. Interested.

Now while we're NES-at it, where's the original Castlevania Collection. And perhaps Metal Gear Collection. I'd play each for a night or two.

I'd rather a new Mega Man Legends but that's never going to happen now.

Side note what the heck happened to the comment section?

It's sad because I would have picked this up in a heartbeat had it been an actual effort. If they did the first 6 games to look like Powered Up for example, then that would be awesome. But since they aren't doing that, why can't they just have 1-10 and call it a day? I guess this means I'll still have to stick with my Anniversary Collection on GCN and 9/10 on my 360. Lame.

What hurts the most is that this is a lazy ripoff, so I hope it doesn't sell well to show Capcom that we aren't happy with such a lazy representation of one of its most beloved series. On the other hand if it doesn't sell well they will likely take it as meaning nobody wants Mega Man and then they'll give up on the series altogether. What an irritating dilemma.

I knew they were going to remake RE0. Good game with almost zero (lol yeah) availability thanks to it's exclusivity with Nintendo. Everyone missing the old RE should try it, but don't expect it to be better than REmake.

Capcom: "We have decided to never let you have a new Mega Man game. Ever. All you'll get is his appearances in other games and ports of the classics. Our hatred for Inafune has no bounds and we will burn everything he loves. Please await more mobile Mega Man games in the near future."

As much as I love my Wii U, I wouldn't develop on it either, unless it was a first party title. No one buys third-party titles for this game, and same goes for the eshop games.

I already own the Mega Man and Mega Man X collections for my PS2. Can someone explain why this doesn't include 7 and 8 plus the 2 arcade games like the PS2 version does. LOL Capcom.

@ryno1179: Did it have all the extra that's included in this version?

It will be nice to have Megaman VI finally officially released in Europe, Capcom skipped it with both the Nes game and the PS2/Gamecube collection.

@ryno1179: I would pay 59.99 for the entire megaman (rockman) collection and the X collection as an all in-one package for my PS4 on a disc here along with another disc HD remasters of the Breath of Fire Series all of five of those great games even if Dragon Quarter was a game way ahead of it's time with it's Dark Souls like gameplay.

@TitanPolaris: Not entirely sure how Dragon Quarter played like Dark Souls. It was a fun game and interesting mechanics (though I hated the ticking clock even if you could rewind) but I really don't see the connection between the two.

Screw digital. How about Mega Man 1-10 atleast? Capcom keeps making poor decisions. People can just go buy the collection on PS2 and Xbox for $10 new.
