Xbox One Delays Its Launch in China

"Despite strong and steady progress, we are going to need a bit more time."

Xbox One was going to launch in China next week, September 23, but Microsoft today announced that it had delayed the launch to an unspecified date later this year.

"Despite strong and steady progress, we are going to need a bit more time to deliver the best experiences possible for our fans in China," a Microsoft Spokesperson said in a statement. "At Xbox, we pride ourselves on delivering first-rate gaming and entertainment experiences, and to allow us to deliver on that promise, we need to reschedule the launch of Xbox One."

Microsoft didn't have an exact date, but said that it looks forward to launching in China by the end of the year. It's also still holding the launch event that was planned for September 22 in Shanghai. Customers who preordered Xbox Ones will still be the first to get them, as well as an unspecified added bonus.

As Microsoft previously announced, there will be a "rich lineup" of Xbox One games for sale in China, ranging from free-to-play offerings to blockbuster titles. Games will range in price from 99 RMB ($16) to 249 RMB ($40). Microsoft's launch lineup for the Xbox One in China includes western games like, Forza Motorsport 5: Racing Game of the Year, and Kinect Sports Rivals, as well as content from Chinese developers like Yingpei Games, Snail Games, and Tencent.

They better not permit Chinese users to use and potentially hack/cripple XBL servers by introducing XBL in China. Infamous hacker Wang Dong already has his sights set on MS servers, and by permitting a country with such a bad reputation for piracy and hacking to access these servers, it is essentially opening the floodgates for a deluge of unwanted viruses and circumvention of copyrighted material on an unprecedented scale. I wasn't making a joke about Wang Dong either, you can google the name along with keywords "Chinese," and "hacker," he is a real person and his team poses a major security risk to XBL, I mean shoot, his team has already attacked financial institutions and American businesses, and MS isn't the least bit concerned with what could become a criminal-controlled service. They should implement some form of DRM for the Chinese audience to help deter piracy and other unlawful conduct. Also, isn't it kind of ironic and moronic that XB1s and PS4s are manufactured in China but you can't even buy one, it's kinda like Apple's slogan, "Designed in California, Made in China."

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> and that sounds like you just laughed at ms... i mean seriously a consumer base of potential millions upon millions and you only just crack 100 thousand. and japan being a far richer consumer of products and goods and with a far greater standard of living and income couldnt overcome 20 thousand... in your estimation... i guess would be worth laughing about... at ms.

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> yeah but on that token the ps4 is selling terribly in Japan. Its being outsold by the Wii U on a consistent basis.

Did you mean Brazil or China? I reckon both countries operate on a policy of rampant corruption and thievery.

Interested to see how they end up doing, China not having video game consoles for so long. Probably waiting to sink their teeth into the thing finally!

<< LINK REMOVED >> Actually, given Foxconn's subsidized accomodation and board, taken in consideration with employee wages, if a worker didn't have any large commitments they could afford to buy an Xbox after two months.
