Microsoft's Xbox One Elite controller launched in October alongside Halo 5: Guardians--and it's been a hot item ever since. The initial allocation sold through quickly, and every time Microsoft can replenish stock, the controllers seem to fly off the shelves. That's what Xbox boss Phil Spencer said recently on Twitter.

Responding to a fan on Twitter who was able to find an Elite controller, Spencer said, "I'm glad you found one. We keep shipping more in but they sell out instantly."
The unique controller, which carries a premium $150 price tag, is currently completely sold out at Microsoft's own online store, as well as at GameStop, Target, Amazon, and Best Buy.
There is another way to get your hands on an Elite controller. You can buy the Xbox One Elite model that launched in November; it comes with a 1 TB console and the unique, transforming controller. And with Microsoft's recent $50 price cut on all Xbox One systems, you can get it for $450 instead of $500.
In November, Microsoft warned that Elite controller supply "may be limited through November." Later that month, the company said demand for the controller "exceeded our planning."
