Xbox One Getting Windows 10 Universal Apps - Report

What´s the point of a Xbox One anyway? You can get more pc options? You must get a laptop for the same prize and got a versatile multitask computer instead.

This one is actually inspired from playstation mobile. we are already copied many ps4 feature, stay tune for more to come.

what we already copied : streaming games from console to other device, agumented reality, cross buy, cross play, etc.

Great project i hope we can see more pc functions. Imagine steam, battlenet and league of legends on xbox one. It would be great to play more "exclusives" on xbox one, like street fighter (when it truly release of course) and others...

I hope they do get word and excel and then a few more apps in time i might be able to convince my boss that i need an xbox at work instead of a PC, oh how productivity will decrease

All this whining, and at what point other than GS bringing it up, did Xbox say they will be porting Office and Excel to Xbox? They said they will be allowing universal apps for all devices, and if reports are true Xbox and Steam will also be joining forces.

Reading these comments boards and peoples inability to read articles properly makes me wonder what the dinosaurs did that was so bad that they were replaced by idiotic people like most of you?

Everyone is so happy about every useless shit MS is spitting, lol. If I want to use my word/excel, I'd rather go do it on my laptop. You know, thing that every working guy need, and won't be idiot who's using it on a gaming console. They better make unique apps or port some other things from PC but not this garbage

When you are down 2:1 in console sales and 3:1 in software sales .... start investing in 1rst party game studios instead of porting Office to a video gaming console. We have phones, tablets, laptops, and computers for all of that, what we do not have is awesome must have first party games on a console with enough ram to play them.

Of course they bring their Appstore to the console. Why would they not. Easy money.

Wish they would upgrade X1's menu system so it would be newbie friendly, I was completely lost when i got my X1 two years ago, I didn't know how to go into settings, sometimes i forget where some features are located. Its no XB 360 blade system of old that's for sure.

Does having windows 10 apps make the xbox one any better though? The windows 10 app store is pretty bare bones right now and I dont think most of those touch screen apps would work well with a console.

hopefully the MS Store app for xbox won't be as buggy as it is with Windows 8/10 and it gives the xbox users the option to install, not a forced situation like it has become for us.

I don't car about using office on my Xbox, but I'd love to be able to use a mouse and keyboard to play FPS games.

As I recall Cortana integration was only a fluke on some of the beta-tester units that was accesible via a secret menu; I haven't seen her since the NXE update outdated my beta. I have been frustrated that MSFT has walked back from supporting the Kinect, voice-commands, and other media-centered options on XBOX-ONE.

I think these universal apps are a good step in the right direction. I doubt, as one commenter correctly points out, that the intent is for us to use Word, and Excel on our Xbox, but how about Spotify, Groove, Steam, Weather Channel, Transit Apps, Voice-calling on Skype or home automation apps like SmartThings, IFTTT, Phillips HUE. I would LOVE to see the Xbox-One used more like Amazon's Echo and respond to voice commands in my living room. Imagine if you will:

"Cortana, what's today's forecast?"

"Cortana, how long will it take me to get to the office?"

"Cortana, turn the lights to movie mode."

"Cortana, play Star Wars, The Force Awakens"

"Cortana, call my office"

The always on, working behind the scenes of the TV feature of XBOX is a critical app that they really aren't fully utilizing, and my hope is that this integration with the Windows 10 Platform (assuming devs commit) will be an excellent step towards having a smart home integrated in the living room. "Cortana, tea, earl grey, hot."

Further attempting to smear the lines between Xbox One and bargain bin PC. Why not try and make your game console...... *gasp* a game console?

I'm glad to see this but they really need to make the overall experience smoother before even attempting this.

Universal Apps means Games and Apps will be Universal on every windows 10 devices including Xbox One. Why are people getting confused?
