Xbox One, PS4 Getting APB Reloaded

Free-to-play game will be available to everyone on PlayStation 4, while Xbox One owners will need an Xbox Live Gold subscription.

The PC version of APB Reloaded

Free-to-play PC game APB: Reloaded is coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and will be published by Saints Row and Dead Island company Deep Silver, the company announced today.

Scheduled to launch by June 2015, the game won't require a PlayStation Plus membership on PS4, but Xbox One owners will need an Xbox Live Gold subscription to play, Deep Silver confirmed.

The PC version of APB Reloaded has accumulated more than 5 million players since December 2011. The original version of the game, simply titled APB, was developed by Realtime Worlds (Crackdown). However, when the studio collapsed, Reloaded Productions acquired the game and released it again as Reloaded.

Set in a fictional near-future city called San Paro, APB Reloaded lets gamers play as one of two factions: Enforcer or Criminal. The game, something of an MMO, features sprawling multiplayer matches that can reach up to 100 simultaneous players (up to 50 vs. 50).

Similar to other free-to-play games, APB Reloaded on consoles will let players earn new items such as gear, vehicles, and customization options either through gameplay or by spending real-world money.

Deep Silver has not yet shared any images or video of the console edition of APB Reloaded. The game is being co-developed by Reloaded Games and The Workshop Entertainment.

Played this game shortly after it switched to Reloaded. It was fun here and there but nothing I'd seriously devote time into. One of the coolest things that was in it was loading in the music from your PC so you had your own stuff to listen to while cruising in your car.

Of course, that, just like most things in the game, was really buggy. I have a feeling these versions of the game will be a buggy nightmare. If you have interest in this, you've been warned.

I guess since it's free I will give it a try. Not sure which console to try it on though? It will likely get deleted shortly after anyway - so many people saying it sucks and is p2win.

It's not that a console monthly bill is expensive. The issue is that it gets added to other monthly bills.

Rent, car, power, water, phone, internet, mmo sub bill, groceries, gas, insurance, etc.

I own a bugati but can't afford satellite radio....

Yes, sony doesn't charge for MP on f2p games.

But considering you need Ps + for all other games, people who play MP games will have the sub anyways.

Amazed how big of a deal some people make of this...

<< LINK REMOVED >> Maybe some people don't play online normally but want to try this one game out with little entry fee. Sony also doesn't charge for third party P2P mmos. Should that person have to pay for all online multiplayer just to play the free game? Should that person have to pay a 15 dollar sub in addition to a monthly xbox fee?

It's not stupid. That's like you paying a cable bill for two hundred channel package even though all you want is Espn.

<< LINK REMOVED >> Yes, seriously, if you have either console and can't shell out for PS+ or Live, I've no idea what you are doing with your console. Not a lot of single player campaign games coming out these days. Considering the bonuses you get, the subs pay for themselves. I just don't get some people.

Bloodborn has co op.

Uncharted has mp.

The rest make sense.

But the key titles of PS (destiny - based on sales, cod, uncharted, Killzone, etc) all have mp.

SP is a rare type of game these days.

<< LINK REMOVED >> While they may have multiplayer of some type, neither Bloodborne OR Uncharted are centered around those and both will more than likely be worth the price of admission solely for the SP campaigns.

This reminds me of the 360 days when MS would allow you to access 3rd part aps on the xbox without a subscription to Gold. Do they still do that with the X1?

This was my biggest Pre-Order regret, bought the game with my friends, only to have it shut down a month later. Lesson learned.

Did they honor the players who actually bought the game? No. Got excited that it was being picked up by another company thinking all my shi would be there, nope, full reset. Never touched it again.

Edit, Oh and on top of that, it was a subscription based game. They robbed everyone.

<< LINK REMOVED >> They had to do something. Wiping everything probably wasn't the way to go but they utterly ruined the game's economy right at launch because of an exploit. Spending time at a kiosk dressing your character up earned you "Fashionista" levels, which rewarded you with money. People went AFK at the kiosks farming money by literally doing absolutely nothing, and then when they maxed that out they transferred the money, made another character and did that all over again. Within a week or two everything at the auction house was totally unaffordable.

This thing still exists eh? What a disaster of a launch. They ruined the game's economy on day one of its release. It was only a couple of weeks after launch where the server population shrunk to around 300. I had a bit of fun with it but this game seemed like tr0ll heaven. Smashing into people with vehicles for no reason, forming blockades with friends, getting enough of a star level for the other side to be notified of where you are to hunt you down for cash (which for some reason made you killable by your own side so someone would kill you the second you earned that and they get nothing for doing that other than laughs), being able to design shirt logos and car vinyls so you can put vulgar things on them or stuff like "Tr0ll Patrol" on your car and then drive around and try to smash into people in the middle of doing missions... just an utter mess. It's like they had no concept of game design, which is hilarious given that one of the guys behind GTA was a major selling point for initial interest in the game.

It's... okay. I boot it up from time to time, but then i'm reminded that the game is just repeating the same basic missions over and over in order to unlock new clothes, cars and whatnot.

Free is a pretty good price for the game. But it is basically pay to win cause you can buy weapons that are more powerful than the stuff you get outside the shop.

People need to read the freakin' articles before posting. It says that the game was pocked up by a new developer after it was shut down and got rebooted. If people would have read it, there wouldn't be ignorant posts asking if this game was shut down.

<< LINK REMOVED >> To be fair, the article doesn't tell the whole story. It was shut down with that studio, then picked up, and it was shut down again. At that time it was a pay-to-play title and wasn't making money, so they stopped that, then brought it back as a free-to-play title. Thus the reason people think it died.

<< LINK REMOVED >> what part of, you're being ripped off by MS didn't you understand?

defend the shoot service all you want, but it's the worst between the two.

i will have you know that i have been documenting xbox live going down and service trouble for a couple of weeks, i have proof and will do this for a yr, with pics of the sites service info page. already in two weeks it's been either down for x1 or x 360 for 5 days with app troubles and and game troubles.

i also am documenting psn, and it's been fine. i will make a video of my findings when the yr is up.

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> Thats funny, over at down detector where they track service outages, in the last 18 weeks PSN was the most reported service 8 of those weeks, and were in the top 5 in 3 more. Meanwhile Live was only at the top twice and only in the top 5 another 4 weeks.

PSN, top 5 in reported outages 11 of the past 18 weeks.

Live, top 5 in reported outages 6 of the past 18 weeks.

PSN, took the top spot more often than Live even appeared in the top 5.

Seems to me PSN has more publicly reported/recorded issues than Live overall, but you keep on your anti-xbox documentary, I'm sure all of the Ponies will love it!

Microsoft were the ones who came up with the idea of charging people to use their own internet connection. It worked because people are INCREDIBLY stupid. You're happy to thank them for bending you over and charging for playing online well good for you. You'll excuse me while I go and LOL.

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> You do realize steam is a storefront, not a service. Your games are most likely played peer to peer, or the developers pay for their own ded's. PS+ and Live have dedicated servers behind almost every game on the service, with the MMO's(which have their own sub to pay for their own servers) are hosted outside of the service and therefore dont cost Sony or MS very much at all.
