Xbox Series X Already Being Unboxed By Some People

An unknown YouTuber has unboxed the Xbox Series X one month before launch.

The Xbox Series X--and its cheaper, slimmer, discless counterpart, the Xbox Series S--does not release until November 10. However, someone already has Microsoft's next-gen console in their hands and has unboxed it one month before the Xbox Series X launches.

A YouTuber named Willy Crow recently uploaded a video of the Xbox Series X. The roughly two-minute video shows a man in a mustard yellow hoodie unboxing the console, allegedly provided by Microsoft itself. The box looks very reminiscent of the Xbox One X, with its black-and-green packaging. Once the Xbox Series X comes out, though, it looks like a shoebox.

Willy Crow even pulls the controller out and fiddles with the thumbsticks before placing some batteries in it and setting it aside. The YouTuber then moves onto the wrapped Xbox Series X. They remove the plastic and tape to unveil the console.

Willy Crow isn't the only person supposedly with the Xbox Series X in their possession. An image on the official Xbox Series X subreddit uploaded by user TheJasonng shows what appears to be a retail or shipping facility stocking up on the next-gen system. A few comments threaded in the post suggest there are retail associates from stores like Target who will have the system in stock soon.

We also got to check out the Xbox Series X, both the prototype and the real-deal. In our hands-on preview of the next-gen system, editor Michael Higham discussed how fast loading and Quick Resume were features that left him considerably impressed with the Xbox Series X.

"I've said this before, but I feel like next-gen console gaming will be greatly impacted by those practical improvements in the user experience more so than higher visual fidelity--and that's what I've been most impressed with in the Xbox Series X so far," Higham said,

The Xbox Series S and Series X launch on November 10 for $300 and $500, respectively. Check out our Xbox Series S/X preorder guide to learn which system is right for you.

@phili878: It's actually not that big. Volumetrically it's only a hair bigger than the Xbox 360 and it doesn't have that huge brick attached to it.

Say what you will but Microsoft is doing a good job going into this next gen in terms of generating hype.

Most of the big name gaming websites have also had their chance to fiddle with the hardware over the last few weeks so it shouldn't really come as a surprise that Microsoft is reaching out to influential gaming youtubers to build more momentum going into launch week.

I wonder if Sony will do the same in the coming weeks. I wouldn't hold my breath though as it seems Sony really isn't trying to do anything above and beyond what they have already done (perhaps a bit of laziness on their part due to the overwhelming success of the PS4.).

I really hope Sony isn't solely relying on their previous history as a means to garner PS5 adopters as Microsoft will pounce on that business model and exploit it.

That said I'm really excited for both consoles and I have a sneaking suspicion that we might be in for another PS3 vs 360 gen.

@videogameninja: What exactly are you basing this sneaking suspicion on exactly? Kind of confusing considering the ps5 has a total of 70%~ of next gen pre orders.

Ooh I'd love to see a sauce for that please....I mean. you'd think both MS and Sony would be rushed off their feet, and waaay too busy to research and release Worldwide store and internet pre order numbers.....but no! MS must have done a complete U turn and started announcing numbers on Xbox again, and Sony must know how many Xboxs have been preordered so that they can claim "a total" of 70 percent more preorders!
Amazing!

Hit me with it ....!

(Wait. You weren't just talking about one retailer in one country....were you?)

@systemoverload: They let some select people play the PS5, and then took them all back. That is not even close to what Microsoft is doing. People have the Xbox Series X and S in their hands and can do whatever they want with it, including Gamespot. I’m getting a PS5 first, but please turn off your inner fanboy.

@maxxdiamond: Fanboy? You buying a video game console who constantly shorts their consumers and I am a fanboy?

Sony had no problem announcing how great previous PlayStations are before launch but are really hush, hush when it comes to PS5 and that is probably because PS5 is not prepared for this launch...

@systemoverload: Real classy, you deleted your comment because everyone called you out. Not only are you just a fanboy, but you delete your posts when you get called out. I’ll remember to quote your posts from here on out.

@systemoverload: Nothing like it. Sony invited select YouTubers to a closed environment where they could try a select number of games ... 3 I think. They were told they are not allowed to touch it, and frankly the whole thing was bizarre ....

It was utterly bizarre. They acted like they had no idea what it was going to look like....and the fake amazement and bewilderment at sound coming out of a controller was embarrassing. I love genuine excitement at trying something out for the first time.....this wasn't genuine, and it had nothing to do with which console they were looking at.

I see the anticipation of being the first ones to unbox the Series X, but damn......even risking your job and corporate charges for breaking policy......I would have said, wait till November 10th

@johnny0779: Breaking policy for what? Showing that some stock is sitting in a warehouse somewhere? Ain't like that's even a secret. Kind'a has to make it to the warehouse hubs considerably before street date in order to get orders filled, packed and shipped out to retailers.

It ain't like the guy ripped one open and showed the system. If he's guilty of anything, it's showing that Microsoft actually seems to be firing on all cylinders for once to actually get a number of systems out to retailers for launch. He didn't unveil any corporate secrets. LOL
