It had everything you could want in an RPG, and more.

There's not a whole lot I can say about this game that you wouldn't already know about it. The title carries a lot of weight in the industry, and it ranks up there with the greatest classics of our time. There's a fair number of games that create enough buzz to be called "one of the greatest of all time", but when this game out, many critics and fans alike thought- "This is THE greatest game of all time". While I would disagree with this, it is in my opinion the benchmark that all turn based RPG's should strive to meet. Every twist and turn felt mind bending and epic. Cloud has become one of the revered protagonists and Sephiroth perhaps an even more revered antagonist. Packed with scenes that would make the hair stand up on the back of your neck, it's as cinematic as it is satisfying to play and beautiful to look at. The story starts out in a humble fashion, giving no hint of the incredible lengths it will traverse as you progress. It spawned a movie, a couple of spin off games, and did more for the name "Final Fantasy" than any of their previous titles. It's iconic and unforgettable.
