The other thread about avatars was locked even though nothing has been properly fixed. I still cannot change my avatar nor are any of the image buttons working either in profile settings or in the reply boxes for forum posts. This should be a top priority instead of having to use workarounds, nor should forum users have to download and install other web browsers just to do a couple of things with.

There were not enough beta testers with more browsers to test out the new website or forum software and the problems that have been here for the last three days need fixing.

I am using Opera as I stated yesterday. Clinking on the avatar button to change it does nothing, same as with the user picture button or the user banner button. They plain do not work. They also do not work in IE9. In a forum post reply box, clicking on the Img button also does nothing.

I posted a pic in the now closed thread of the IE9 console where it makes no change in the behavior of the web page once enter is clicked.

This software leaves much to be desired and they need to get their script fixed so things work or go to plain HMTL until their scripts work properly or get different software that is made expressly for forums.

It appears to work okay for me in IE10. I'll go back and test IE9 now to see if I can reproduce.

Edit: Yep, it does appear to be a different error than yesterday that affects IE9 and possibly older versions. I'll do what I can to make sure this gets someone's attention.

I find it odd that the engineers were more worried about getting ads and sponsored links into the forums, yet haven't taken the time to fix bugs that keep buttons in settings from working or allowing images to be posted or uploaded.

Actually we put ads in at the end. Sponered links was done very last and it took < 1 hour of dev time. This is a big system. Its brand new. There will be rough edges. They will be fixed.

@Promised_Trini: Same exact problem. I have three pics because I was trying to push the comment picture through but still nothing. In all the comment sections I'm stuck with a default image. I've looked everywhere and there's no way to delete images :/

I am not going to ask "how long?" as it is now the weekend, but one would think that those in power would ensure that basic features would work before going live. Not having images, avatars, sig pics, without having to use workarounds, as well as a page that loads in less than 30 seconds is not how to attract new traffic to the site.

These are my observations.

I would like to be able to delete the images as well. On the Giant Bomb site, you can delete them by clicking on edit tag, clicking on the image and there would be a remove button. Since the new site is using the same type format, The remove button is missing, Therefore we can't delete any images that we uploaded.

I am using IE.

I tried to upload my profile header image from the old gamespot (using photobucket) and it is well under the image limit.

It loaded and exploded in size, is this a bug or can I do something to fix it?

Are you using IE9 or IE10 as nothing works in IE9 either?

That is probably why it works for you. I avoid IE as much as I can and do not see a reason to upgrade to IE10 when I rarely use IE at all. I prefer Opera due to it's better features.

No it's not a bug. The 'header size' of the new site has actually been made larger--I think 1080x760, or something around this height--than what the old sites measurement/pixel limits were. So if you try to use your old header image from the old GS profile page style, it's more than likely gonna muck it up holy hell. I didn't even bother using my old for the moment b/c I knew once I read the new measurement requirements, it was gonna be to small/short.

I just used a quick screenshot pic I had save that was almost at desktop sized, lol. Turned out pretty sweet actually....I'll probably end up keeping that way.

Yeah, sorry, There's bugs in the image editor that will damage accounts. We had to disable image editing until we can fix bugs in it. Its a top priority and should be addressed by Wednesday.

The suggested image size for the header now is 1460x500 (in your settings it says so), if you're using a 760x140 header like the old site the image will get stretched out.

Damn, I knew I was off, lol. I just got lazy and didn't feel like going back and checking the exact measurements when I answered.

The avatar problem for the comments section has been a problem in the old site. Usually it takes awhile for the avatar to change, a very long time. This is probably one of those things they plan to fix later as they have glaring glitches that cause inability to use the site as opposed to getting an avatar to change immediately.

How about not even being able to get anything to come up to change the avatar or the nonworking buttons on the Profile Settings page? Even if it takes a while for the avatar to change, how about letting us at least change it? As it stands right now, I still have a default avatar as the buttons do not work at all for me and a few others around here.

I'm sure that will be something fixed pretty quickly. Also out of curiosity what browser are you using? When I was using Firefox I could not change my avatar but when I used Chrome I could. Try that if you're open to using a different browser.

I'm using chrome and my avatar doesn't show beside my username when I comment, nor when I like a comment. I've tried jpg, gif, you name it. Correctly sized too, 80x80. It does show in my profile and in this reply though.

@GnugnaGnagna: I also have this problem, using Chrome 30.0.1599.69. The image shows up fine in the settings of my profile and the header of my profile page, but it does not show up when posting comments.

In both this thread and the other thread, I have stated I am using Opera. I have also stated that I have IE9 installed and prefer not to use it so see no reason to upgrade to a newer version. I should not have to download and install 3 or 4 browsers to use what should be basic features. The fact that a user work around had to be employed just to get some people to change avatars shows that this was not a product ready for release when everything was switched over.

The problem with the avatar in the lifefyre section, appears to be that the profile is still linking to fuse which nor longer exists, I believe Gamespot need to create a new slug for the lifefyre section of the comments as it sends you to something which does not exist.

I can now see the remove button during edit mode. Haven't tried it yet though.

EDIT : It worked on my end, but it deleted two pictures (both were recently uploaded) at once. Weird. Thanks for the fix though! Wish I can delete stuff from my feed as well.

Kind of strange having the "Remove" button in "Edit tags" instead of being an independent button. Also, it's weird that I can't see my sig image when I post a new reply, it reappears when I refresh the page though, but now I'm just nitpicking.

At least you have one, I still can't change my avatar, or add a sig image much less any other image since the buttons still do not work for me. :wall:
