Not only that, but they've changed html permissions in general to allow everything on the editor to work now it seems (not that I use the editor personally anyway, but I can use the span/div/style/class/etc tags/attributes now, which is what the new editor uses). In addition to that it seems to be quite good at outright removing or fixing offending code now rather than just throwing up a html not well formed error and expecting you to find the issue yourself, time will tell just how good it is at doing that though. If we're lucky no one will get html not well formed errors again though. Always adds an alt value for images posted by default now too where it gives the filename (without the full URL filepath), presumably for those with images disabled for one reason or another.

That's the reason I unpinned this thread :P

The fact that I can use it all is amazing, prior to the fix I couldn't even get it to post a single word.:P

Greetings,

This post was written entirely in HTML. It includes a link to an awesome blog. It is also amazingly italicized, bodaciously bold, and understatedly underlined. It even includes pictures aligned in the center of the column:

terascreenshot20120407222953_2.png

  • I've also included...
  • an unordered list.
  1. And order list
  2. is probably also in order

Now, let's try the horizontal rule:

There! Most all of what I need is accounted for, assuming this all posts correctly.

Happy gaming,

Boz

What browser are you using? Can you take a screen shot of you trying to post something with the editor please?

I'm using FireFox. I type in a URL (like http://www.gamespot.com), click update (or whatever the button is) and the URL goes away.

I know you're probably not going to like this but while the problem is occurring you can do this: All it takes is a couple of key strokes and you can still keep the editor on to do it.

I know the code to do it. You guys said the problem was fixed, but I'm still having problems.

Yeah I still have some issues as well and I should be able to do what some users are already doing but I can't in some areas. The coders of the site have been on recently so I'm sure little problems like this will get fixed.

Oh my... so style attributes are being allowed now... I wonder how long that will go on. Is there any official word on what CSS properties are and are not allowed, or are we headed for a trial and error period? Looks like there's also some html and property rewriting going on... This could be interesting...

No official word to my knowledge, but I already tried out just about everything worth trying (and several things that I just tried for the hell of it too) and we're still pretty limited with what we can do tbh, there's no javascript or anything like that we can slip through as far as I can tell, though I admittedly avoided using any workarounds while I was trying out things - the main new things are tables (only the bare minimum seems to be allowed though) without errors, text highlighting, certain text-decoration, and many things we could already do can now be done with a more modern method via style attributes..with the fact that the most recent WYSIWYG editor utilises these for it's functions it was somewhat expected that we'd be allowed to use them sooner or later, and we're finally able to use all of the h1-h6 tags rather than just h1... ...we can use bdo tags now too, but even that doesn't have much use in the end as the forums are primarily in English and the default is ltr anyway. The biggest change aside from all the permission changes to allowed tags is the editor error-checking (and fixing) now though - the editor automatically fixes broken html, not necessarily in the way it should be in every situation, but in a logical way at least, which is great when I make a typo in the code and don't realise it. There's no embedding of any form (aside from GS hosted user video BBCodes) we can use html tags for as far as I can tell, so they'll be no youtube videos getting embedded on the forums again unless posted by a staff member I guess.

I can use the link button fine with the editor, but it doesn't accept the added instruction of opening the link in a new window.

It always defaults back to the same window.

I have no issue with hyperlinking. Try waiting.
