The problem just started up again for me after a month of having it work perfectly fine. Now it usually takes 3-4 clicks to get the post made.

Wow didnt know this was such a widespread and old problem. I never had this happen to me before until this month. Now it happens pretty frequently. I have to submit a post several times to make it work. What is going on with gamespot? My tracked blogs of my friends on the site is not showing certain people's new blogs since last week either.

Heh, not surprised there's a thread about this, it's really getting annoying for me. I really like Gamespot but it's mindboggling why certain simple things, like forums, are just not well implemented. Why is it that I never have these types of problems on other web site forums, such as SRK's, and I'm sure their budget is minimal compared to a massive mainstream site like GS.

It would be nice to be able to edit posts as well, like you can in most of the other forums. Please improve your forums GS staff, thanks.

I just kept getting it.. Alright.. i got it.. * Errors: 1. - Your HTML is not well-formed - no valid tags were found. I believe i found why.. there is a problem in/with the software that prevents you from using the (br) code.. not the () but the pointed ones..that people often use for faces.. you know? THAT one? I can't post it else I'll get it.. it happens when you do the face ).( or (br)(br).. it's the arrow one.. There! i did it ">"... You can't put two in a same post apparently or something like that.. Edit: I've tried to show an example and each time; that pops up. so I hope my explaining did the job.

or

- most people would just use the former that tag works fine for me (note that I have the WYSIWYG editor disabled)...
...note that the / in the tag is necessary...otherwise it's invalid as the editor uses a variation of xhtml rather than standard html (like most things do nowadays in fact)

Same bug is attacking our union homepage. I just wanted to put a new image (without touching the codes in the union short description, a.k.a. homepage design, but when I already pressed the apply changes button, it says error in the html format and asking me to look for unclosed tag. I checked all the codes, html, and everything is all right.

I also tried to just press the apply changes button without touching anything in the union -> admin -> general page. Thhe same error appears.

@robbristow, yes. the

would work, but then the "automatic" HTML that the gamespot website gives you when you're quoting someone is (br)(br) Note that the second tag is unclosed.. Edit: again, I have to use (br) instead of the arrow-brackets because I got that Error.

When I quote it doesn't add any tags (aside from the BBCode quote tags..), though that's probably just because the editor is disabled..I take it that means the problem is the editor is inserting incorrect tags, rather than that the error message is being set off when it shouldn't be; the problem with faces like >_< is that the < is often considered to be part of the html, even when it's not supposed to be, the way around this is to use the equivalent way of typing it using code, so that it doesn't set off the html censor and just acts as normal text i.e. "<" should give "<", though you often have to add in amp; parts between the & and lt; to get it to actually go through as you want it (normally 2 for the symbol, 3 for showing the text < - it's irritating, but the easiest way to allow you to type the < symbol without it triggering any errors as far as I'm aware.

I've been getting the "- Your HTML is not well-formed - please check for unclosed tags" on more then one line of BBCode. For example, if I want to post two images I have to make one with [*img]url[/img*](minus the stars), and then i have to make the others with the imgsrc = url (insert the arrows ) code. Same thing goes with multiple links.

I get the basic "Your HTML is not well-formed - no valid tags were found" when I try to post in 1 union in particular. I don't have any quotes or smileys in my post, nothing fancy or what I can figure would cause an issue.

I posted about this issue just a few posts (and weeks) ago and it's STILL happening. I've been trying on and off since I posted that and it's never worked. Harry Potter union, by the way, and it's getting frustrating.

I've been getting this error forever. I usually just use the HTML editor and write the comment. Rarely if ever do I actually put anything more than words in a comment...

How do you do that?? I'm assuming it works, then, and you can post okay?

You need to click the "reply" button, or if you get the error, it takes you to the same page. Just copy your text, then click the "HTML" button on the second row of the WYSIWYG box. It's after Insert time and before Toggle Fullscreen. Another box pops up and you can paste what you want. Click the "update" at the bottom left, and you're good to go.

glad it works for you too. It's a really convoluted way to do it, but at least it works. :)
