But why this inconsistency concerning the spelling: Wonderboy in Monster Land for the Arcade version, Wonder Boy in Monster Land for the SMS, and finally Wonderboy in Monsterland for the C64 game? I thought these were all different ports of the same game.

Oh well... maybe I'm just splitting hairs, dunno. :P

Yes, the spelling from the boxshots and the starting screens is always with two words, both capitalized: Wonder Boy in Monster Land. This applies to all sequels as well (Wonder Boy in Monster World etc.).

Re: World of Goo - I asked on the developer's forum about whether there are boxed versions for Mac, but haven't gotten an answer yet. The boxed version listing at Amazon.com says it is both PC/Mac. I'll let you know when I get a definitive answer.
