I HATE new interface ! on uservoice admin says whats wrong?? EVERYTHING is wrong thats the problem, you need a book to list all problems and non-logical issues... it's terrible-horrible what you did with new gamespot. Instead of giving some alpha 0.3 version and let people test it you just put it live like its good... everything is wrong with it, starting from navigation, finding things.. and that is not because of it requires learning/getting to know new interface, it LACKS of pure logic, which UserInterface designer(s) you've taken had 0 skills in this field. I know this very good because we in company take GUI very seriously unlike big site like Gamespot - which is very dissapointing.
Conclusion stays the same: I HATE NEW INTERFACE. Above all I hate forcing to use some totally illogical user interface. Forcing is always always a very bad thing.
New interface is that good, that you can now put old one back online
the new look, to me, is nothing but bad. It is way too grey. The whole thing is a massive ocean of grey with no other colors or breaks to segment the different sections. It is very unappealing to my eyes, and makes me not want to bother trying to sift through it.
I can learn to put up with it, probably, but there's one thing I won't be able to. Why, oh WHY did you remove the news updates box from the top right? That was the most convenient listing of recent gaming news on any site. Now it is gone. Now your site takes time to find articles. This is not a news paper, this is a website. Things are suppossed to be faster, easier, and more convenient. Why have you gone against all three of those guidelines?
Two big thumbs down. I know, I know. If I don't like it, don't come to the site. Well, I just might follow that advice.
It's outright horrible and inconvenient. Please allow us to change back to the original. Otherwise I don't know what to do.
Why does it just say on the tab "game forums, video game forums" redundant and not even capitalized?..........X360PS3AMD05
came in to say this. each forum needs its own clear html title; when you tab open several they all read the same (game forums, video game forums).
other than that the new look is good
The new layout is just awful, plain and simple.
Hey my 2nd post after 10 years of lurking
No biggie but according to the website this is my first login since 1970
With the old layout, I could hit all the info and stuff I wanted in a few seconds. Now it takes to long because the new layout is a mess. Not to mention the ton of stuff that has been removed. Looking at the layout I would say its the persons first time doing a website. I would recommend finding a new person to do your website layout, heck I would do it for free and I'm sure you would find millions of peeps willing to do the same.
I'm still wondering why you are wasting half a foot of screen on the right side and why your wasting half a foot of screen of the left side. Its almost like a reverse wide screen... you do know that the screen is wider side to side and not wider up to down? :P
So could someone please answer my one simple question? Why the huge blank areas on each side?
Now I have seen gamespot go thru tons of changes, different owners, different layouts and this is the first time I've witness such a huge epic failure.
Please switch the website back or give us the opition to switch it back.
OMG the forum wont let me use the word "s-t-y-l-e-s"?
Hey Fab, thats not an official sticky topic, thats just someone else's post. When there is an official sticky post on Feedback, I will post there. No where on this site does it direct me to post my feedback there.
So again here is my post:
Before I wanted to comment on the site changes, I wanted to give it a chance to sink in, and get use to it. Now being a Lifetime member of Gamespot, I just love this site always have and always will, but I have some issues with some things, so please humor me on the next few issues I bring up.
First, the Calendar and Most Popular on the main page, I hate them and I do not understand them really at all. There just clutter on the main page, you make them more efficient in my eyes if you do the following.
First off scrap the Calendar the way it is now. Move a "Calendar" link to the top of the page, and give us a real monthly calendar (like a share point calendar or even a microsoft outlook calendar, something like that) and then populate it with events.
So on my main page the way the Calendar is now, when its 5/13/2011 and I look at my main page, I dont have to see events for 5/19/2011 for 6 days in a row. (as well as other future dates) Its clutter.
But if I click on my calendar link at the top of the page, A Giant calendar takes over the screen, with populated events from Gamespot, and here's a cool feature, we can put stuff on the calendar as well. Like coming soon titles, or dates were reviews are expected to be released, things like that.
There is more calendar stuff but moving to most popular for a moment.
Now with most popular:
You have a "Coming Soon" there, now move that to the Calendar as well. You also have "Highest Rated" which I do not get because I can take my cursor move it to the xbox 360 link for example, and see the choice of "Top Games" and it shows all the Highest Rated games for 360. And that works for every system. But hey, thanks for telling me the highest rated game for the WII, but dont care, dont have a WII, so its clutter to me. More stuff I am forced to look at then what I really want to see.
And I do not get what the "Overall" thing is anyway. Lose it since that info is already in it's designated sections, it doesn't need to be there. Once you see it once your good, but you see it every day, day after day and it takes forever for the games to change on that list. It is just more clutter.
I have issues with "In the Mix" but I read your *about regarding that section, so I will let it be, but that section is terrible fyi.
As for the "Latest & Greatest" section. Here is the greatest flaw with it.
Five days ago, I read news regarding Mortal Kombat. I love MK, article was awesome. Problem is that it was five days ago, and its still on my main page of news. Thats the problem!!!!
Give us a check box next to every article so that when we are done with it, we can send it to an archive, or just remove it, and then let any other additional news fill it's spot. Every other news site I go to can do that, why can't you guys?
By no means am I trying to do your job, or call you guys out or anything like that. These items I listed, to me just do not make sense is all.
I'm sure no Dev's will respond to my little post, which I understand. But I do hope you take alook at the items I commented on. At least consider some changes with the news and calendar sections, because leaving those items up there for those many days, is just annoying and clutters everything up.
Thanks for the time
