Still not loving the new GS

Usually when new layouts are made (such as in Youtube and Facebook), we all complain for 2 weeks and then learn to love. It's been at least 2 months and I still don't like the new Gamespot format. It has some nice aspects to it, but overall is illogically designed.

It's much slower than it used to be. Still riddled with bugs and glitches (such as posts not going through). The community activity has significantly decreased. The main website itself has an overwhelming image cluttered interface.

I know GS wanted to look more modern to appeal to advertisers, but this wasn't the way to do it. I'm probably going to be much less active on here.

It's been a good run 2005-2013 :)

I don't like it either. Mostly because they seem to be focusing less on the community with this new design.

Yeah it definitely sucks now. I just use joystiq.com for all my gaming needs.

it is indeed filled with quite a serious amount of bugs. only time will iron those out though. a lot of time.

i just gave up on them to fix it, but they can at least separate the forums more better, why are the PC & Mac Games mixed with everything hardware related. they should separate those into 3 divisions like they where before.

1 - PC & Mac Games

2 - PC Hardware

3 - Audio/Video for all consoles and PCs alike

its alot better this way. every time i post a topic or want to reply to a previous post, i have to manage and search through a number of unrelated topics for me. and i bet others go through the same.

Agreed, it seems the forums are an afterthought at best. Most of the Gamespot editors won't even post here anymore. Most of them spend more time posting at NeoGAF than they do here in these forums, and that really is a startling condemnation of their own community.

Weird stuff still happens on my end every now and then. Also, I think GS should have kept most of the features the old site had. Don't have problems with the overall look of the site, but I still prefer the old site's layout.

I don't see how they could've been going for a "more" modern look...the website's previous layout had such a timely, futuristic feel to it that any major changes would've felt like a step back in that regard. Sadly they went more than one step back.

The new format I find difficult, to put it mildly, to navigate and find the information I'm looking for. I really miss the tabs that used to be at top where you could quickly navigate to the different systems pages, and I also miss the top ten games and their review scores. I'm sorry, I really don't enjoy the new site anymore.

@drekula2: agreed, the whole site is a mess and a fail...i'm here only for forum, for me GS does't exist anymore...

@SirSlimyScrotum:all is wrong with GS,really this site dissapear for me, i hope to a wonder, a big come-back to the old site...but Christmas gone and nothing to dream :( i pay even 50 bucks for the old site...

Yea this site is a giant pile of shit now. I cant do anything on my profile.. site not found if I click on something.
I only use this for some game news but ive found a new one, where i can get the news.
Now im only on here few times a month to see if anything is fixed or changed but so far so bad.. nothing is changed. Still got the same bugs
Just change it back. This is just lame

changing the site back wouldn't make much sense. there were a lot of serious bugs on the old site, and too much work has gone into this new site. a rollback would be nice, but in all honesty, I don't see it happening.

i can't think of any bugs the old site had that made people want to leave. :O

@Kickable: probably "Project Triforce" at that time was in development,and the site became slow as a slug.

On-topic: To my own vision on this...there's no such thing as HTMLs,emoticons,fonts,font colors working out,which led me to rarely post a blog(it's quite unique if you have seen my older blogs)

I never log in to post anything on GameSpot, but I have done so for this:

I really, really hate this new layout. And I kind of figured it would improve, but it hasn't, and it's time for my murmur of protest. I'm not saying "change it back, the old site was SO awesome," but there has to be something better than this.

The "Games" tab is counterintuitive. Why can't I select a page to see only system like before? That option is still sort of there, but it now take more time to navigate to, and it's not easy to find. When I do get to the page, it sends me straight to reviews? There are only two useful things immediately shown to me, which is ridiculous. Why is there a giant banner that takes up half the screen? Seriously. What's the difference between "Games" and "Reviews"? Why is "WII" the first option on the link bar on the left-hand side? What's the point of listing how many "games" and "reviews" there are at the top? No one cares about that. And the numbers aren't even true! There aren't 964 legitimate games for the 3DS.

I realize I'm picking on very specific things, but I have no idea how else to usefully complain about this. I used to love this site. Now it's such a pain to navigate that I have almost no interest in coming here.

some people do actually care about how many reviews there are, and having the wii as the first option there. not a lot, but some people do. other than that particular statement, what you say is true. game search functionality is nowhere near what it used to be. at least its better now that when the new layout initially launched.

Nope, neither do I. I almost never come here now.
