Why are the videos in Gamespot's streaming player so pixelated? They look horrible even at 720p. It is like there is no anti-aliasing or filtering being applied. It has been like this for a while, but was not like this before. I have tested this on multiple computers and multiple browsers. I have turned the hardware acceleration both on and off with no difference. It seems that it is an issue with Gamespot's player. What is being done to correct this?

Is this every video? I am not having any issue with any of their videos. If it's only certain videos could you post links to them.

Pretty much every video hosted by Gamespot. If it links to youtube, it looks fine.

Here is an example:

http://www.gamespot.com/battlefield-3/videos/battlefield-3-armored-kill-gameplay-premiere-trailer-6387844/

That video to me looks like it is running at a VGA resolution like back in the early 90s. The pixels stand out and do not blend together to form a smooth image.

I just watched that video and it seemed fine to me(almost as good as you were playing it directly). Maybe try upgrading your video drivers or downgrading them if you think this problem started sometime after you upgraded them. Are you sure you selected 720p? the 360p does look a little pixelated if you blow it up fullscreen.

All of them look pixelated when you blow them up full screen. In 720p, the pixels are smaller, but I shouldn't even be able to see the pixels. I am running different drivers on all the systems. My main PC has everything updated to the latest. I think it is something wrong with the codec that Gamespot uses. I can watch the same video on youtube and it looks good.

I have poor quality pixelated videos too (at the 720p setting). Calling it HD is a joke. It has been like that for a while. It's pretty obvious too right from the opening logo.

I get the same result from home and work.

I'm unable to reproduce this problem but I'll check again from another computer tomorrow.

I'm still unable to replicate the issue. Do you have some screen caps or a way to capture what you see with a video?

Yeah, I have the same issue.

I was having problems with YouTube videos too and I turned on the using hardware acceleration option and it seemed to work for the YouTube videos but on Gamespot the videos are still pixelated, even at 720p.

Also, when I mouse over the various buttons/options on the video player they look terrible:

At this point I'd rolled my mouse over the resolution playback option.

Thanks for the follow-up report, amaneuvering. If I knew which browser and operating system everyone is using it may help us troubleshoot the problem.
