You can login with your username...Did you even try? I think the greater issue at hand here is that you are just unfamiliar with the site and jumping to conclusions. You may be best visiting the How to GameSpot board.
Again, you can use a username to login but it is not secure as a user will only have to guess your password. You use your e-mail then they would have to guess both===more secure.
