And no, he's not awesome, and he's not a floating blob, at first, he was a minish, he got corrupted with Dark Magic and became a Dark magician who lives in a palace of wind.  He's cool, but at least Metroid Prime survived the last blow that was put on him, unlike Vaati.

Well, he appeared first in Four Swords, where he was a ball, then in Minish Cap, but Minish Cap comes before Four Swords in the time line, actually it's after Skyward Sword, where he is a Minish who got corrupted by the power of black magic, and in the end, he appeared in Four Swords adventure, where he was a pawn on Ganon.
