They wanted to rebel from the main portion of Canada and set themselves up as their own government, I hear. Trying to help the US pass Canada in the "country with the most land mass" contest and all.barren167

I think even if Quebec left Canada, they'd have more land mass than us. But then again, I don't know how big Quebec is.

If we're claiming land mass, I claim western and northern Europe. The part that was under USSR rule is a giant no.

I claim the whole of space and everything in it. I win.

Québec has 1667441 square kilometers, which makes about643 802,57 square miles.

MS was right then. I thought Canada had over 10,000,000 square km, but I guess I was wrong.

Years of oppression of the French by the English. It stopped for a while, but they're still trying to assimilate us and make us forget our language and culture. The worst part is it's working. That's my reason at least.

Like barren said, mother Russia would still be the biggest country if Quebec left Canada.

Too bad all that land belongs to such a bad country.

Well, these days nowhere is too cold to populate, but Russia does have a lot of unpopulated places. We shouldn't check mass, but the habitant/mass ratio. Japan wins if I recall correctly.

According to Wiki, Macau has the highest population to territory ratio.

541,000 people to a place that's barely over 10 miles in area.

It's listed as a sovereign state anyway.

EDIT: whoops, no, they gave up sovereignty under the one country two systems policy. I'm making lots of mistakes tonight. XD

Probably pretty low. Russia has a population of about half that of the US and is twice as big.

Yup, according to Wiki, it's at #224. Note that that list includes city-states and dependent territories, not just countries.

According to Wikipedia, the least populated country(ies) is/are the Pitcairn Islands, owned by the U.K. They make up 0.000000001% of the world population.

US is third in overall population, only behind China and India. China's got more land than the US, at least, India's got a much greater density. Even the US manages to be less than even though, the East has a great deal more than the West, at least until California anyway, and the biggest state is bottom five in population because people are afraid of snow.

The U.S. has the advantage over those countries, at least economically. China has a higher overall GDP, but the U.S. has a higher GDP per capita, which, in my opinion, means more than the overall GDP.

Sooo, speaking of economics, what are peoples' economic beliefs?

I believe that all countries should be welfare states like Norway, Denmark, and Sweden if they have the means. So by US standards, that'd make me a dirty commie. :P

I prefer something similar to communism. Strictly speaking, it's called "Christian unity". Something like the communistic society where goods are distributed as are needed by whomever, but without any one person, or group of people, or percentage, or whatnot in charge of distribution, it's wholly based on motivation by God. It worked among the early church of Roman times, and easily could become a reality again, at least among such a people group (which is part of my personal belief that general humanity's incapable of such a system because of their typical selfish nature, as is often demonstrated). For a country as opposed to what I described above, well, can't say anything works really. Capitalism's exploited far too easily, bigger dog-eats-dog-eats-mouse dictatorship is an exploitation (and is dying out anyway thanks to social media), communism is sort of lacking in the "inner goodness of all humanity" factor, socialism relies on all of mankind never being at odds with any other part of mankind (which would work better if all men were identical), and so on.

And a lot of people have a lot of things. They say that if all the people with money right now gave to those who didn't, we'd lack poverty. Hypothetically speaking, they might be right. It's just that none of them have the motivation, or the confidence, or the wisdom, or whatever to do so, know that it'll matter, or even know how, and those that would be receiving the money don't always know what to do with it, or even do know what to do with it but do otherwise with it (giving $20 to a drug addict in need of food rarely gets the guy any food). Thus, you need Someone in charge of the thing who does have all that (motivation, confidence, wisdom, and patience for that matter).

The main reason for currency is for the ability to say that one person has something that another doesn't need, while that other has what is needed by him. Namely, not everyone buys a house and there aren't all that many of them bought at any given, while you constantly need food and there's a great deal of need for it. Money pretty much becomes a placeholder, though it ends up creating a whole new category of people, those who have only money, which becomes what they have that everyone else has need of. In this case, it could go either way, working in an economy of everyone giving as is needed certainly would require no money since you know you'll end up with what you need when you need it, but it creates an issue if there's one or more people not in the system, they're under no obligation to give back but still have what's needed. If there are no such people that'd be preferred, easily, but if there are, a monetary system just for such cases, a money that's used solely as a tool and is not made into a goal (at least for those participating in the system), would be appropriate.
