All these new teams going for 2011 should ally themselves in a super group named the Combined Racing Alliance Partners Group, or CRAP Group.

With the WMSC meeting today, there is expectation that the FIA will announce who the 13th entrant will be, if any.

FIA DECIDE AGAINST ADDING NEW TEAM FOR 2011

The FIA has announced that none of the organisations bidding to become Formula 1's 13th team in 2011 have met its requirements, and that the grid will therefore stay at 24 cars.

The governing body had invited applications from parties interested in filling the slot left vacant by the collapse of the US F1 project on the eve of the 2010 season.

Several teams put in applications, including a partnership between former world champion Jacques Villeneuve and Italian ex-GP2 team Durango, plus a new bid from rejected 2009 applicant Epsilon Euskadi.

But the FIA World Motor Sport Council decided in a meeting today that none of the applicants were suitable.

"Following the press release of 19 March 2010 calling for expressions of interest to participate in the 2011 and 2012 seasons of the FIA Formula One World Championship, a number of interested parties expressed their interest," said an FIA statement.

"It was considered that none of the candidates met the requirements to be granted an entry into the championship.

"Consequently, the allocation of the 13th team will not be granted."

A number of candidates for the entry withdrew their applications during the process, including multiple GP2 and Formula 3 champion squad ART and new American organisation Cypher Group.

Others considered to be potential F1 entrants declined to participate, including Prodrive and Lola, both of which had made attempts to join the world championship in previous years.

The three outfits that entered F1 as part of last year's new team application processes - Hispania, Lotus and Virgin - have all yet to score or to regularly threaten the established midfield squads.

Look to me like the FIA made he right decision, no point in having another USF1 on your hands especially as i doubt many fans will be too concerned about having 24 cars racing instead of 26 if the extra 2 are just going to run round at the back miles off the pace.

That isn't to say i don't support the idea of adding more cars to the grid just so long as they are of the right calibre.

Seems a shame, what happened to the Serbian buy out of the old Toyota team? I thought they were supposed to be pretty much garunteed the 13th slot?

Apparently the company headed by Stefan posted a profit a couple of years back of $500 USD... I'm not sure they're in a position to play the game :S

But is that not a good that the F1 team actually made profit without racing whatsoever? Or do you mean the enterprise he owns which was going to fund the F1 team?

I suppose the end figure is bad but also depends on the situtation. I mean if they have heavily invested in new rescources and assets for the company then that figure could easily be low for that very reason.

I think it was the enterprise that was intending to go in and run the shindig. There were also other rumours around Stefan Zohanovic (? is that the name?) money laundering and other fraud crimes in the past but I can't remember the details :s

Ah shame then. I hope they introduce a new team in 2012 but it would be fantastic if the new teams make it through to next season but I am worried about teams like Hispania, especially if they are bascially buying what will be two year old cars to run next season (as the rumor was they had got the 2010 Toyota chasis for next season which is kind of a bad move possibly as the car will be a whole season of development plus actual development from the end season behind).
