If you wanna make a season out of it, I'd suggest just doing the race, have the grid on a random order and a random shuffle for who gets what driver at each event (so no one can be the same driver all season, otherwise it'd just be unfair).
Also, you'd want a points scoring system. Given a maximum of 12 drivers can enter, it'd make sense to give out points to the top 6. You could go either one of two ways with this, either big gaps which can somewhat mimick the 2010 points system, say:
1st: 15 pts.
2nd: 10 pts.
3rd: 6 pts.
4th: 4 pts.
5th: 2 pts.
6th: 1 pt.
Or, you could use the 1991-2002 points scoring system:
1st: 10 pts.
2nd: 6 pts.
3rd: 4 pts.
4th: 3 pts.
5th: 2 pts.
6th: 1 pt.
It's all up to you guys really, which would you prefer?
I'm fine with whatever everyone decides on doing, just random grid may have people disagreeing over where on the grid they are placed.OmenIWF
If that becomes a problem, by all means just ask me to do the grid shuffle. I'll let kip know what the order is for each event.
...That's even if we can choose the order of the grid.

Yep, I agree with this.
We're all here for the fun right? So why not mix it up a bit?
Random grid and drivers sounds good.
Also, the points system, I don't mind much.
Only reason I suggested random grid was to prevent people moaning hahaha, But yea, I agree with the points system Redders has put forward, and I feel if we don't agree on the grid and drivers, redders can pick for us haha :Pkipi19
Random grid is in fact, a very good idea, loads of benefits.
#The main problem is the different time zones people are in, it's ok with the UK/Europe as only a hour time difference but when you get to the United States/Canada and Europe your talking 5-8 hours time difference which needs to be taken into account.

People in a non-PAL region (i.e. outside the EU, Australasia and the Middle East) cannot normally play on the same server as E.U. people can, unless they buy a PAL copy of the game.
Sorry for triple post, but what about Driving Aids? In GRID, you could set restrictions (lock TCS off, for example). Will we do the same, or can we all use our own level of assist? And also, if it's available, can we put the weather on dynamic? The prospect of a 30% race where a sudden downpour occurs, sending some into the pits for a change of tyres whilst others brave the storm incase conditions improve sounds awesome. And, traditionally, in Codie's online racers, if you are wrecked, you sit out the rest of the race, so it would be advisable to put damage on visual only or something, in case one of us makes a mistake/hits a puddle or something? And finally, are the points given out to the first 6 players or the first 6 drivers? E.g., if one of us was unlucky and got put in a HRT, and of course finished 20th but was the 5th highest ranked player, would he get points?
Thanks!

I would perhaps say give points to the top 10 and stick with the real scoring system. I understand where you are coming from but for us guys at the back it gives a bit more incentive to be trying to overtake if say you are 11th on the last lap with 10th ahead of you.
The way you guys have been talking about it, you've made it sound very arcade like, This game caters for both ends of the spectrum but leans to sim, As from F1CE, you can go in with your own level of assists, and i'd rather it that way.
Damage I'd want on full, this way we can experience what it can be like to make a costly mistake, or even get punted off in the wet by someone and lose points.
Dynamic whether was certainly my thinking.
Yeah hopefully we can do that with the Xbox night as well as the changing weather would be cool and full damage. However I also want it to be clean, of course there will be contact which happens at times and can't be helped (i.e. overtaking and the other driver doesnt see you until last second but too late so one or both spin off etc) but I don't want to see people driving silly into the first corner purposefully taking people out or driving backwards because they are last. That was what ruined Grid as I had a really great race with a friend on it until some person decided to go backwards as they were last and took my friend out as we were battling for first (which is rare for me as I usually am at the back of the pack several seconds behind but I give 100% at every race regardless, you never know if the person in front is going to make a mistake and you can catch them).
With regards to the traction control maybe we can use the practice races to see what approach is best for the majority and go with that one. Same with automatic or manual gears, I don't mind having full sim options on myself but I am also relativley new to using interior view as a normal procedure with traction control and abs etc off but I can give it a go as I have been with Forza 3.
Yeaaa, I get ya, I agree with all of the above the Garfield, I've been the victim of many ****s on GRID, Shift, and F1CE itself, and its just sad to know that people will go backwards or punt someone off to win, its unsportsmanlike, and we know here the F1PU we hate to see it on the track, so i'd hate to see it done to each other.
Assists and such I am under belief its all individual. So lets hope that its that way. From things I have seen so far, F1 2010 looks amazing etc and such, But in some very tiny details lacks what F1CE had =/, But am yet to get my hands on the game... HURRY FRIDAY!!!
Joking aside, a good thing to consider may be, if you do accidentally make contact that forces one of the player controlled drivers momenterily off the road, you yield and give up the place they lost, as it is bound to happen abeit very occassionally you'd hope.OmenIWF
The game already comes with a black & white flag system for an "illegal overtake" in those situations. If it's bad enough, it'll add a ten-second penalty to your finishing time.

Arcade like?
I'm trying to make it as realistic as possible here!
Trying to make the game night like the 2010 season.
Feel the same pressure (or close to it) as the drivers.
That's why I said no TCS, ABS etc.
Manual would also be realistic.
Depending on how bad the accident maybe yea lol, But i think we're getting wayyyy too deep into it, A lot of it I feel should be player input, We all know the sport, the dos and don'ts and the should and shouldn'ts, So why not let us play it out :)kipi19
That's what I was thinking  It's getting waaay too complex just for playing a game online.

What I mean mate, is that the game will probably go with your preferences as you drive and not what i'll make for the server, your assists will be yours and not mandatory for the server, seems to be that way nowadays.

Oh, sorry if it seemed that I was trying to play to my advantages, which I'm not.
I usually have TCS and ABS on but have been practicing with them off for this very game night.
So, are we going to have the 2010 point scoring system that garfield said?
And what driving aids are we going to have, so I can practice?
Well - don't look for 2 days and suddenly 48 posts to read :D
Anyway my tuppence worth:
And my final point......ROLL ON FRIDAY

Anyway my tuppence worth:
- I'm in the UK
- Random grid MUST be the way to go
- Season sounds good and although I know where Redders is coming from I think having 10 of the 12 scoring using the current F1 points system may well be best
- I suspect that ABS/Traction control settings etc may be local decsions and not enforceable at the server level - but we'll wait and see I guess
- Random Driver allocation might well be a good idea on the assumption that the "big 3" will all be noticabley quicker than the "little 3"
And my final point......ROLL ON FRIDAY

lol mate, Its up to you what you wanna use, as far as I know I can't enforce anything at server level, its down to you what you feel best with using
I also have another question:
Will F1 2010 be compatibly with the Logitech wheels? dabest2500

Do you also know if it'll be the full 3 and a half turns lock to lock too?
Some games, like F1 Championship Edition is only half a turn.

I have the G25 if that helps.
I can't be asked to make a CodeMasters account so I guess I'll have to wait till Friday.
i never joined, i couldn't be bothered, lol, just did a forum searchOmenIWF

Yes, this is what I meant.
But the thread doesn't have a definite answer :(
Right, looking at the options available for online gaming in F1 2010, here's my proposals of what the settings should be:
