I will be posting a piece of information about Formula One, 3 times a week.

Here goes the first one!

DID YOU KNOW IN F1:

The total spending of the F1 teams in 2006 was approximately $2,986 million?

That's right! F1 teams actually spent around $2,986 million in 2006, with Toyota spending the most and Super Aguri spending the least:

1. Toyota --> $418.5 million
2. Ferrari --> $406.5 million
3. Mclaren --> $402 million
4. Honda --> $380.5 million
5. BMW Sauber --> $355 million
6. Renault --> $324 million
7. Red Bull --> $252 million
8. Williams --> $195.5 million
9. Midlan/Spyker-MF1 -->$120 million
10. Torro Rosso --> $75 million
11. Super Aguri --> $57 million

I wonder how much Prodrive will be spending next year. They seem pretty determined to make as much impact as possible in the sport when they join.

I agree that it will be interesting to see what kind of budget Prodrive will have at their command, but a huge budget doesn't necessarily translate into race-winning ability, as Toyota definitely demonstrates.

You know Ferarri's budget will increase a ton for new security. And McLaren's for hiring better spies.

This just goes to prove Flavio Briatore's point - you don't need the biggest budget, and you don't need to pay your drivers or other workers the most to win the Championships.

Around 35 million a piece to their drivers. 7 million for Gascoyne till he was sacked. 100's of millions on R&D and materials etc...

Gotta love F1!

There's no use of spending millions and milions of green bucks if you don't have a good technical team. They could probably benefit if they could spend some of that huge budget on hiring more experienced techies.
