A Cosworth formula 1 V8 engine's pistons were subject to a force of over 9000 times that of earths gravity at 19,000rpm. (Or something akin to that.)

ok here is something i read a couple of weeks back that i think fits the bill although i don't know how true it is as it was posted by someone else on another forum, i know shame on me. Apparently Aryton Senna used to sneak a Brazilian flag into his cockpit to wave on the cool down lap and when he crashed at imola in 1994 the marshalls found the flag along with a flag for Ratzenberger who was killed the previous day. As i said i don't know how true this is but if it is then it's a great story and a testament to Senna.

Niki Lauda admitted during a recent interview that an advertiser currently pays 1.2m euros for the space on his famous red cap. He said the very first deal for his cap, worn to disguise the scalp damage caused by his fiery 1976 crash, was for 100,000 Euros.

With Natacha Gachnang being Campos' reserve driver next year, it will mark the first time since 1992 that a female driver has been a part of Formula One. Gachnang is not in a drivers' position however, so Danica Patrick, should she get a seat at USF1, would be the first female driver in a race since 1976.

As the "old" Hockenheimring, Michael Schumacher never won a GP at the circuit. It wasn't until the track was re-designed that Schumi ever won there.

Amazingly, if Michael Schumacher wins the remaining seven races of the season and Buton scores no points (along with no one else surpassing Button's tally), Schumi will actually win the World Championship.

That's cruel Redders, why would you hang such a juicy metaphorical carrot in front of my face knowing full well that it will be taken away from me in Valencia.

Yeah, back in those days they didn't do interviews with the drivers, they interviewed the 6-wheelers.

Potential Campos 2010 driver Natacha Gachnang is Sebastien Buemi's cousin.

Should Nick Heidfeld finish tomorrow's race, his string of consecutive race finishes - already a record in F1 by a clear mile now - will reach 40 races. USA 2007 still remains Heidfeld's last DNF in the sport.

The last 6 races have seen 6 different race winners: Jenson Button, Sebastian Vettel, Mark Webber, Lewis Hamilton, Rubens Barrichello and Kimi Raikkonen. If the next 4 races all have different names too, it will be the longest running sequence of different race winners in F1 history.

Jenson Button's 2nd place in Italy was his first 2nd place in nearly 5 years. The last time he did it - the inaugural Chinese GP - the podium was exactly the same as the Italian GP, with Barrichello winning and Kimi Raikkonen in 3rd.

If you exclude the controversial results of the 2002 race at indy then Barrichello has never won back to back races in F1, well that's according to Jonathan Legard.

IF Jenson is crowned champion in Brazil, It will equal Japan's record of crowning champions in succesive years, Japan's record at Suzuka was 1987-1991, Brazil can equal that with 2005-2009 that is IF Jenson can take the title in Brazil.

With Button winning the World Championship in Brazil, Lewis Hamilton has managed to do what every other British World Champion has done - and that is fail to retain his Championship.

Button himself vows to become the first British Champion to retain his crown.

Interestingly, Button won his World Title in less races than what it took Nigel Mansell. Button took 169 races to take his crown, whereas "Our Nige" took 176.

Brawn GP go down as the most successful team in F1 history, winning 100% of every WDC and WCC they fought for and winning 47.04% of all races entered.

They also took part in 17 races in their entire F1 history. No wonder the numbers are so nice to them.

A little fact that both Redders Button may want to ignore if they hope to win this years world championship.

First not only has a never managed British driver successfully retained his title there is also the fact that Juan Manuel Fangio is the only driver to change team and still defend his title.

Still i guess records are like pie crusts, they are meant to be broken.

Pie is good.

After 6 races, Fernando Alonso has exactly 50% of the points that have been available in this years' championship.

Michael Schumacher becomes sick if he uses a simulator - therefore he cannot learn a new track beforehand.
