According to Peter Winsdor on Windtunnel tonight, McLaren have appealed the decision. He and Varsha seem confused but upset that the championship will be settled in the court room and not on track.

If the Hammo becomes chump, er, champ, because of this, I will never watch F1 again. What a load of saggy diapers.

It's a shame it's gonna have to be decided in a courtroom again, but whilst I am disappointed about that, I'm sorry peeps but this is my country's boy here who could still take it (but highly doubtful), I'm hoping to see 3 DQ's (and with Brazil, it's not an unheard thing). Fingers crossed.

And by the way, I am serious in that I am disappoined it's another court case again. I'm sick of them. And to be fair with the squabbles McLaren have had all year, I guess it should be fair that a non-McLaren wins it. But it had to be a Ferrari grrrr  (so either way, I can't win really  )

I hope this hasn't confused anyone, coz it's confused me!

~ HOT UPDATE ~

Alonso hopes McLaren`s appeal fails

In a strange move - although maybe not that strange - Fernando Alonso has revealed that he hopes McLaren's Brazilian GP appeal fails

Kimi Raikkonen's World Championship triumph is up for debate after McLaren informed the FIA they would be appealing the results of Sunday's race, which handed Raikkonen the title after Lewis Hamilton could only manage seventh place.

However, following the race it was discovered that three cars that finished ahead of Hamilton, both BMWs and the Williams of Nico Rosberg, had fuel temperature irregularities.

The race stewards didn't penalise the two teams, claiming insufficient evidence, and the ruled that the race result should stand. McLaren, though, intend appealing the stewards' ruling, which, should they be successful, would hand the World title to Hamilton.

Alonso, however, is hoping McLaren aren't successful in their appeal - although he says it's because the title shouldn't be decided in the courts rather than the fact that it would mean his rookie team-mate, who he has a frosty relationship with, would be crowned Champion.

"It would be a joke, and we've had too many already," he told Spanish radio station Cadena Ser. "If something like that happened, it would end up burying the sport."

The Spaniard also took the time to have what could be his final dig at McLaren as a McLaren driver.

"It doesn't seem like the season has been managed very well," Alonso said.

"The result speaks for itself. McLaren lost the Championship probably because of some of the decisions they took, especially in the second half of the season. It's no secret that they haven't helped me a lot.

"What my team boss stated in China, saying that they weren't racing against Raikkonen but against me, was a declaration of intent. So McLaren did their part in losing the title, but also Ferrari did a better job than the rest.

"In the last races both my hands and feet have been tied. I didn't have any power. I had to do it all the way they said and that made it harder to close the gap."

Yeah, I could agree with that. A WDC won due to some people being DQed would really tarnish the sport. It should be won on the track rather than off it.

Actually it's 3 drivers who would be DQ'd, not just one

And by the way without McLaren's exclusion they would actually have won. 218 Constructors points they would have had. Ferrari wouldve had 204

Anyone notice in the build up (to race or qualy cant remember) steve ryder said, "Well we've struggled to learn about Kimi Raikkonen, we've learned many things about alonso, not all great, but we know everything detail about hamiltons young driving career (well, something along those lines...)...then what happens? ITV show a piece about how hamiltons life story AGAIN for the 40th time....

Also, when ted kravitz was tryin to be dramatic and hype up the championship when asking button who he thought wud win it, button casually turns around and says "well tbh we'll see after turn 1"

BUT man of the match goes to James Allen for interrupting Brundle (who was describing lewis' pass on barrichello) with a....OH GOOD LORD! Priceless....

Even though I was celebrating that move when it happened, I too found his reaction extremely over the top. It was comparable with his reaction to Jenson Button winning in Hungary '06. Sometimes that guy just confuses me

Upon checking facts and stats, this will be the 9th time that the Driver's title will go to the final race with three contenders still in it. The last time this happened was in 1986Redders1989

Ehm are youall forgettingthe year 2003 with Montoya, Raikkonen and Schumacher?? the last race Brazill?

anyway the momentum of the year was Justone word( Kimi !! )

They said he would replace schumacher with Ferrari and he did!

All heill to Raikkonen!!!!!

2003 - Brazil was the third race of the season. It was red-flagged after Alonso's huge shunt and Kimi was initially declared the winner, but 5 days later Fisichella took the win.

That year's finale was in Japan, where Michael Schumacher led Kimi Raikkonen by9 points. Montoya was out of the picture as he was penalised in the previous US GP for taking out Barrichello and was unable to haul himself back into a position whre he had enough points.

Lewis Hamilton is overrated. he lost the championship by hitting a button on his steering wheel. Congratulations to Kimi! I am glad that there is another World Champion. He is the first Finnish driver since Mika Hakkinen to win. Better luck next year, Lewis!

Yeah, 2003 was the best year ever for F1. Brazil was and still is the most exciting race ever.

I refer you to this thread. The story has been denied to be true by all, including the journalist who originally spread the news in the first place (although the link to that story isn't on here).
