Hey guys. As anyone here who watches ITV for Formula 1 will know, every qualifying and race build-up this year has bee practically dedicated to Lewis Hamilton, thus giving it the nickname "The Lewis Show". But, how often is he mentioned in comparison to the other drivers?

Well, this weekend, I'm going to find out.

My plan is I'm going to keep a tally for all the times a Formula 1 Driver is mentioned duing the build-up to qualifying and the race of the Hungarian GP weekend - I will include Scott Speed, Marcus Winkelhock, Christijan Albers and Michael Schumacher alongside the 22 current drivers too, as these guys may also be mentioned. Every driver will be mentioned at least once, as James Allen does run through the grid on the race day build-up, so no current driver will never be mentioned this weekend.

The whole point of this I guess is to see how far ITV have taken his "Lewis-Mania" out of control. If you guys wish to have a guess at how many times Lewis is mentioned, do it, can have a little competition

SATURDAY:

  1. Sebastien Vettel (9 Times)
  2. Fernando Alonso (6 Times)
  3. Lewis Hamilton, Felipe Massa, Adrian Sutil & Scott Speed (4 Times)
  4. Jenson Button, Michael Schumacher (3 Times)
  5. Sakon Yamamoto (2 Times)
  6. Kimi Raikkonen, Robert Kubica, Ralf Schumacher, Alex Wurz, Marcus Winkelhock (1 Time)
  7. Remaining Drivers, plus Christijan Albers (0 Times)

SUNDAY:

  1. Lewis Hamilton (47 Times)
  2. Fernando Alonso (42 Times)
  3. Felipe Massa, Kimi Raikkonen, Jenson Button (7 Times)
  4. Giancarlo Fisichella, Heikki Kovalainen, Nick Heidfeld, Anthony Davidson (5 Times)
  5. David Coulthard, Sakon Yamamoto, Takuma Sato (4 Times)
  6. Robert Kubica, Sebastian Vettel (3 Times)
  7. Mark Webber, Alex Wurz (2 Times)
  8. Rubens Barrichello, Jarno Trulli, Ralf Schumacher, Nico Rosberg, Vitantonio Liuzzi, Adrian Sutil, Scott Speed (1 Time)
  9. Michael Schumacher, Marcus Winkelhock, Christijan Albers (0 Times)

I see what you mean, We could change it, and just use the surname Hamilton, since they use his dad a lot XD

Well yeah, but when they refer to "Hamilton", I'm only taking in the case of Lewis, not Anthony or anyone else :P

I can't understand why they don't take a look around and realise that we don't want to hear about Lewis in every sentence. I can understand them looking at his progress over the weekend, but they should give similar amounts of attention to Fernando and Kimi, even Massa and the other teams. I don't hate Lewis (in fact I love him  ) , and I don't hate ITV F1, but ITV are giving the guy way too much coverage compared to everyone else, and it's just boring. I'll be interested to see the results of this investigation..

Well something must've got to ITV that I was watching over them - both Seb Vettel and Alonso got more mentions in the quali build-up than Lewis! (Also, unofficially, I counted Damon Hill too, who go more than Lewis as well with 5 mentions)

The build up seemed much more balanced today, hopefully it will be the same tomorrow.

Well, the balanced view... no longer lasted, Alonso and hamilton, to no suprise, got all the attention, and not suprisingly, Lewis got the most mentions.

Good experiment! I'm always complaining that Hamilton is mentioned "about 100 times" - which I always exaggerate for effect, so it's really nice to see the proper figures!

Ugh.. James Allen just wouldn't shut up. He kept saying "Lewis Hamilton only has X laps of the race to go".. err.. so does nobody else have that amount of laps to go? Is he the only one driving? ITV drive me mad. I'm an absolute supporter of LH, but I do like to hear about other drivers too. Thank you Damon Hill for keeping focused on other drivers in addition to LH.

wow i thought i was the only person that noticed the attention the hamiltons got. every week we seem to hear the same story about his dad working two jobsto support him. its like a documentary weekend rather than a race weekend. don't get me wrong i like the guy for what he is doing but top performers like the bmw sauber team are not getting the prase they should be getting. alson anybody notice how the press conferences are cut short when lewis finished second? we never get to hear the third place guy!
