I myself will remain a Mclaren fan (hence the sig), even though im not exactly fond of alonso and his attitude but im sure he will mature alot.

What about you lot? im asking now so every1 dosent automatically support whoever is most dominant when the season starts, (although im sure there will be lots of drivers fightin for wins!) so cmon! jump on yer bandwagon 8)

I've been a McLaren fan ever since I got into F1, so I'll be cheering for them even though I'm not an Alonso fan. On the other hand, Kimi is my favourite driver, so I'll cheer for him even though I'm not a Ferrari fan! :?

Kinda confusing, eh? :P

Of course Scott Speed will get backing from me, got to support the countryman.

As for the rest: Been a Renault/Beneton fan since I started watching F1 in '99 so I'll be backing them along with Fisi. Alonso will also get support though I'm not really a fan of McLaren. I also like Massa though I dispise Ferrari & Kimi.

faster and more reliable.KimisApprentice
dont think so. in the final few races of 06 ferrari were showing signs of unrelibilty, and im not sure things were helped by schumi, brawn and all the rest of the ferrari dream team leaving. Mclaren on the other hand have gotten stronger. They should be confortable with there new technical team as well as having vodafone sponsorship. They had exceptional reliability in 06 (especially engine wise) so i think kimi made the biggest mistake of his career leaving mclaren (even though i understand why) but hey u never know wats gonna happen :D

Kimi and BMW for me.  Kimi hopefully we get the title and it is his best chance so far so he should.  I do not know why I really like BMW but I just do!

Not true, Ferraris only major unreliability was Schumi's engine blow up. There were the piston crown problem earlier in the season but they got that fixed and was certainly one of the most reliable teams. Out done only by Renault. McLaren were still not on the ball. Kimi's electrical fault in China springs to mind. Testing has shown similar things, Oil leaks for McLaren and Electrical faults for Ferrari. At the moment I would say they're very close reliability wise. But last season Ferrari killed the Merc both in Power and Reliability.

I've been a Ferrari fan since I started following Formula 1 about 10 or 11 years ago, so I'll continue to support them. I really like Massa and I'm sure Kimi will grow on me. At any rate, I like him a lot more than Alonso. And of course I'll support my countryman in Mark Webber. Oh, and I also hope Barrichello does well this year. He deserves a good year.

hmm ok but no1 was expecting mclaren to be competitive in 06....how could they when the guy who designed their car left before the season started ? Development was seriously compromised there. believe me, ferrari wont be as strong as previous years. they wont be as motivated after having worked a decade with schumi. brawn and the other guys who made ferrari what it is, are gone or about to go. Like i said there were signs of unreliablity in brazil (qualy and race). Mclaren now will be comfortable with their new design team, and alonso has just won 2 WDC's so he'll have valuable input. Also if concidence means anything in F1 heres 1 for u: Vodafone have always sponsored champions (not just in F1) and Mclarens last championship was with Bridgestone...... All things come to an end, so ferrari arent gonna dominant forever.

Hmm, well I have a different view on this one. You see, all the 3 top teams have hiered at least 1 new driver. Therefore, and naturally, they'll need some time to form new team chemistry. Also, all the 3 teams seem to have strong cars for the next season. However, Ferrari's case might a bit worse since it's administartion saw several changes after the last season.

In conclusion, all 3 top teams seem to have almost equal chances. Therefore, it should be an exciting season! :D

Err, before winter testing showed a poor Merc engine I'd have though McLaren were favourites with Kimi and Juan Pablo plus an evolution of the class of the field. However it soon proved the Merc V8 wasnt powerful and far from reliable in its infancy. Kimi did well with what he had IMO. Nothing niggled Ferraris reliabilty during the Brazil race, the puncture was due to contact with Fisichella. And one busted fuel pump in Q3 isnt a MAJOR. McLarens suspension failure in Q3 Bahrain was far worse. Newey isnt the only one that designs the car you know, many Aerodynamicsists come up with new parts and designs continually through the year. It is often noted in F1 Racing magazine that McLaren did as much development as both Renault and Ferrari throughout the '06 season so development wouldnt have been significantly hindered I doubt. Ferrari havent been dominant forever, Renault and McLaren have been these last 2 seasons (McLaren less so 2006) and Ferrari were I admit were a big team in 06 but I believe that Ferrari are able to make a better machine than McLaren and Mercedes purely because they arent 2 seperate entities.

so....how many engine failures did they have in '06? 2 IIRC.....JPM in Europe and PDLR in Monza. Why are you comparing a mechanical failure from the FIRST race, with one in the LAST race? and how was the fuel pump failure nothing MAJOR? it just cost Schumacher a chance at the WDC but even more so the WCC......

About Neweys departure even Renault said it hurt them....its a hinderace to have to develop something that was designed by somebody else, especially when that person would of been on a different mindset to Newey. Its not impossible but it dosent help things.

You keep referring to how Ferrari were at the end of 06, yet alot has changed since then. Many of their original tech team has gone mainly brawn (i think this is the third time ive stated this) And i doubt kimi will put the same effort into testing and developing the car as much as schumacher did. Dont get me wrong kimi is a very good driver, but many out claim him to be lazy when it comes to work. A really good driver dosent just put in the performance on-track, but also off track.

Ferrari will be competetive this year, im sure of that, but they wont win anything.

oh BTW forgot 1 thing...you said the merc engine was terrible in winter testing last year, does it meet your standards this year? They've only had 1 failure, which was after the engine had done way over its life expectancy (the engine failure on their shakedown was a "minor oil leak" [ITV.com's words not mine])

I've also heard that Kimi isn't that familiar with knowing much about cars and set-ups :S

Hmmm, I'm not sure about that. Mclaren had a good car last year but I can't say it was reliable. Yes there weren't many engine failures, but it had its share of mechnical problems.

True, but Kimi apparently isn't very good in the tech department. so i'm not sure how Ferrari are gonna cope cus Schumi was good in the techs :S

It wasnt major in the way that it didnt write the car off in 30secs and the Suspension failure was potentially lethal, a broken fuel pump doesnt send a car sprawilng through the air and almost roll it. This years merc V8 is superb, it has had all its demons fixed and is going well. Im a big McLaren fan and Im not slagging them off, Im just saying that the Mercedes department have often made unreliable gear. Well Ferrari are more or less in McLarens situatiuon last year, a car that was already penned in by the key designer but has now gone. I dont think that losing the staff will have destroyed Ferrari as you think it has, its certainly a loss but not life threatening. Schumi is still around which will keep the Mechanics happy, Todt is still there Brawn is on a Sabatical and COULD be back later in the year, or next year. I have no doubt that Kimi doesnt put in the same amount of effort that Schumi did. But see the MP4-20 ... yeah it was the class of the field with Kimi's minimalist in-put. Oh and see the F2005? Yeah it still managed to fail miserably with Schumi's input. The Driver doesnt make the car what it is, thats the engineers, Drivers give feedback, Drivers say well this new wing has increased pitch sensitivity BUT you know I dont like how nevous it feels can I stick with what I know. (Kimi on Juan Pablos wing in Monaco see the Formula1.com technical analysis section)
