Capcom considering legal action against GTA3 age ban in Japan

heres a story gamespot posted, if you remember when i posted about Japan planning on banning GTA games to being sold to kids, it now seems Capcom has a problem with this, WTF Capcom, they've been doing this forever here in the US, it takes Japan to try it before you game developers get off your asses and protest censorship? what a bunch of morons, anyway heres a clip:

they don't seem to be able to comprehend that violence requires motive and that exposure to violence can only teach you how to use it and not to use it.

noone is being hurt in a video game so i can't see any link to real life violence, just a breakdown of broad morals

the media's just looking for somebody to blame for something they can't understand, i once read an article titled "man murdered over Xbox" which entailed four crack addicts who stole everything electronical in the house and the Xbox was just an expensive piece of equipment, not the reason behind the man's death

it's shame when this happens, before do get over-protected of their games. But sometimes children do take it too seriously, like with Man Huntsharp_shark

I thought the thing with man hunt was just an over exageration by the media..

i think it should be banned FOR UNDERAGE KIDS because have you seen how violent the game is !!!!!storm1110

heh, that was a pretty engaging movie

what they did though was shoot an unarmed person, that's just a basic honourable moral, it's as old as dust and revenge

THAT is sooooo true but by that philosophy children should be able to watch Porn or violence on TV, so i dont agree!!!

well your point holds water if you're talking about little kids, but these kids that shot up columbine were in highschool, of course your 8 yr oild shouldnt be allowed to play violent games and such, but 15-16 yr olds why not, you couldnt really stop them anyway

yeh man thats true, but they need to warn parents of the violence in the game in a simple way so they put a (R rating in the US right) 18 only rating only so parents can make the decision to buy the game for their children

its like the idea, you dont know what some thing is until you have a taste of it, and if a kid does not know violence then he wont be hungry for more. where as if he has seen violence then he knows what it is he has done it(in a video game) and may be inclined to try it out in real life. eg how many times have you imitated something out of a video game, was it Ryu's Shoruken, Clouds Vitory pose or even something out of a cartoon when you were younger like power rangers, so you see there is a good point to this banning in a way.Kraker2k

its like the idea, you dont know what some thing is until you have a taste of it, and if a kid does not know violence then he wont be hungry for more. where as if he has seen violence then he knows what it is he has done it(in a video game) and may be inclined to try it out in real life. eg how many times have you imitated something out of a video game, was it Ryu's Shoruken, Clouds Vitory pose or even something out of a cartoon when you were younger like power rangers, so you see there is a good point to this banning in a way.Kraker2k

yes you are right, partly, of course i tried a few karate kicks on friends after seeing the karate kid, but shooting and killing people is different, these kids that do this are not sane, sanity is the key here, the columbine kids were a bunch insane kids that were picked on and made fun of too much, and they snapped, marylin manson had nothing to do with it, they were nuts, sane people do NOT do this sort of stuff, sure fine ban the games but that does not make the insane kids sane, this sh*t will STILL happen
