As good bussiness icon, they know that it will be VERY profitable to remake FFVII. The demand is already there... Actually, minimal advertisement is needed if ever they will remake FFVII.

They should, making sure they retained the key elements that made FFVII such a joy to play.

A one word answer...

No

I'd like them to, but I can't see it happening.

true but imagine how much square would put into advertising for a remake that would sell a PS3 right there

I think they should make another one, but it most likely won't happen. But whose knows, if the fans beg enough, maybe it will.

lol like I've said, Square-Enix HAS to know that all the fans want it. But your right, it probley is a "when". Although they are pretty busy with the Final Fantasy XIII stuff, I'm not sure it's going to be anytime soon, because Final Fantasy XIII is a huge project. Also there is the fact that people might get stuck on those games and then forget about Final Fantasy VII (I know us hardcore gamers won't lol)

I loved the Tech Demo Square did for the PS3, but I don't think Square is going to do a remake. FFVII is already a classic, and even though the graphics and fighting style would be beyond awesome, I would rather play it in its former glory.

Best Buy have been taking preorders for a Final Fantasy 7 remake but Square has once again spoken out to deny any rumours.

Square-Enix have confirmed Final Fantasy 13 is in development, but once again said they have not confirned any Final Fantasy 7 remake at any time. They also stated that the rumours are just that - rumours, and Best Buy made a mistake. As a result Best Buy have removed the item from their website.

Square previously denied a Final Fantasy 7 remake almost a month ago after EGM falsly reported the remake for a 2007 release.

Although I would buy a remake, I don't think it'd ever live up to our expectations and memories of the original. For that reason, I'd rather they not remake it, but carry on with new stories and ideas

hmmmm good point. You can't relive those feelings you had when you played the game the first time. Those are just priceless (I just realized this, but I sound insane lol :P )

Well its true! The first experience is the best. Its like other old game people love. They're the best "ones" ... in our memories (the nostalgic fuzzy thing rapped around old memories of amazement). So no. a remake of FF7 maybee whouldnt reach our espectations. But think about the new generation that missed the FF7 game. They will probably not play it cause the graphics, sound and "tech" is out of date somewhat a decade or two ...

... AND also. As i stated in another "FF7 Remake" forum post ... its possible that it actually will be MORE satisfying then before. Remember that FF7 actually was somewhat of an experiment from Square, if they could manage to make a RPG with 3D graphics ... e.c.t. Now with many successfull other games in the FF series (and other), and alot of experience in the 3D realm ... it might be at least as magic as the first time whe played it :)

True, you have a good point, but even if they update the graphics etc, the "new generation" might still see random encounters and turn-based battles as archaic since a lot of modern RPGs are doing away with those 2 things (like say FF XII). However, if they do get rid of random encounters and turn based battles, then it might anger fans of the original, so it's kind of a no-win situation. I personally wouldn't mind what they do, but whatever happenes someone somewhere is bound to be upset (sorry about the pessimism btw :P)

Well! why cant they do a compromise. There are many other games that have two or more combat systems. Like the old Arcanum (and i think Star Ocean also had the choise ... and probably some other games i dont remember right now), it hade the choise in the start to choose "turn-based" or "Real-time" action.

In that way you could satisfy both camps. If you're a old timer then choose "Turn-based , Original battle mode", if you are new to the series and dont like turn based, select the "Real-time Modern battle mode"! Containing the same stuff, just that one is based on tactics, the other one rely more on reflexes! ...
Its not that imposible!

Hmm...thats a really good idea! It'd take a lot of work though, but FFs take a long time to make anyway so if they do a remake I'm sure they can pull it off. Plus it would mean more incentive to play the game again using the other battle system

ooooo nice idea there. Your completly right. They really could comprimise. But I'm not sure they will. But I hold out hopes because they are breaking new ground with Final Fantasy XII and Final Fantasy XIII right now.

After all the hype on the web it would be a terrible business move not to pursue the remake.  As it is they have already made a whole bunch of spin-off games made from it.

I hit my head on the nail there ... did'nt I :D

Did'nt first realise how good that "multi-game-style" idea was when I consieved it :) ! But actually ... its brilliant. *blush*,  I have had this idea for a while, but didnt reflect on it so mush, thats untill someone said something about that the remake whould probably skipp the hate/loved turn-based random encounter system.

Hey! maybe i should send Square-enix a mail with my ideas ... and point of view ;)

And yeah! ... all the spin-offs that Square have done the last years around FF7 will make the new generation gamers more interested in the FF7 original ... so, i gueas the remake whould sell alot. ( if not else, the fans will :) ... I know I Will! ).
