Gamespot as rated ff9 8.5 and ff8 9.5.

Don't you think that's not right?

FF9 is a lot better than 8, 8 is annoying with their juction system, I actually stopped playing it for sometime because of that and ff9 is one of my favourites no matter what people say!

Yes, yes, yes, yes, YES! FFIX is my personal favorite in the series. The junction system could get annoying, but it was easier to manage once you got your head around it.

Well all criticism is a matter of opinion. I disagree with GS because I hate FF VIII because the plot is convoluted and nonsensical, the characterization gets butchered in the third disc, and Squall is a whiny emo kid.

I like FF IX though. Except for the final boss coming out of nowhere.

I absolutely loved FFVIII and although I think FFIX is an amazing game, FFVIII is better imo. So I'd have to agree with GS.

I say FFIX is way better than FFVIII, the only thing i liked in FFVIII more was the summons, that you could use them ealier in the game.

I have to say I liked FF8 better because of the Junction System vs. the lame weapon-based skill learning system of FF9. Also, I love love stories (Well, I'm a Filipino after all. :P). The final boss of FF9 is somewhat misplaced in the game. However, disregarding those, FF9 with pawn FF8 with just one reason... *drum beats*... VIVI! :D Vivi is the single most awesome character in FF World... Aside from cloud, Sephy and my Tifa. :P

FFIX is better in my opinion. It brought back that traditional fantasy feeling present in the first few games. The characters are a heck of a lot better as well, except for Amarant.

I actually prefered the system in FFIX because it was much easier to jump into and you couldn't turn everyone into clones of each other as much as you could in VIII. Squall and Rinoa also didn't seem like a very good couple to me as their personalities seemed too different to really work.

But that of course, is just my opinion. ;) And I completely agree with you about Vivi(except for the Cloud, Sephiroth, and Tifa part :P).

Nah. Let's put it this way, Vivi is in the same rank as Cloud, Sephy and my Tifa, but he has a separate place of his own. ;) Regardless of differences in opinions, there is no debate that Vivi is the most awesome character in both FF8 and FF9 world. :)

FFIX deserves at least a 9.5 IMO.

It's not that it's a bad score, he simply thinks FFIX deserves a higher one.

One of the most annoying thing in FF9 is the fact that equipment affects your status growth upon level up... The game did not even hint about it. I remember, my Level 99 Zidane has only 4,500+ HP while my friend's Zidane has around 7k+. The strength of his Zidane is also far highr than mine... (He was reading FAQs that's why he knew how to increase stats).

I never noticed that. But I never level grinded extensively in the game, so it didn't affect my guys much.

I never really grinded in theame in my two play throughs. I only have my current all level 99 characters when I decided to make my perfect FF9 file... Right now, Eiko is the only one who is not level 99. All characters, except Eiko and Amarant can deal constant 9999. I also have Excalibur II. :D

To be honest I never noticed that, and I must have completed it about 3 times. the only (I repeat, ONLY) problem I have ever had with FFIX is that the entire game was way too damn easy. even the optional bosses like Hades, Quale, and of course, Ozma, can easily be beaten at about level 60, regardless of stats.

Let's be honest, which FF game can you remember where the penultimate boss doesnt turn into, summon, or set loose something much bigger which serves as the last one.

if you allow about 80 for each game aside from  XII, where i would allow about 120 hours, (yiazmat, amongst others).

lets face it though, completing the sphere grid and beating EVERY optional enemy in FFX will probably take you longer than the rest of the games put together.

well im already a bit through ff12 passed judge ghis. and 80 hours for each dam thats gonna take long especially 7 coz i havent played it before. ff8 and 9 i reckon i can get through faster as i've played them soo much but getting all the cards will be hard. 10 i have never tried beating the dark aeons so i know that will take me ages and the monster arena will take a lot longer oh well good gaming time ahead. i expect it will take me to december before i finish all of them. well at least it will save me money from buying other games.

And I thank you all for that. :D

Btw, since you intend to have all your characters @ Level 99, I recommend you to take on the Magic Pots in FFVII and the Yans in FF9. In FF8, spend time in Island Closest to Hell. In FF10, well, there is really no such thing as Level 99... Unless you consider your sphere level... I have all FFX characters @ Level 99 sphere level, but Inever touched the spehere grid even once. :P In FF12, I have no idea where is the best place to level up.

Surely we all should now know GS's odd system on rating games by now.Their under-rating good games and over-rating lame games. There are exceptions of course....and the Junction System isn't that annoying.

u finished the game without upgrading your skills or magic at all from the sphere grid. theres something odd about that because you need to upgrade your skills from the sphere grid to become more powerful. how did you complete the game?

The best place to level up in ff12 is in the henne mines( in the part you can only reach by having 10 espers) theres a place where bats are coming out of nowhere. just cast sleepga and curaja, because they are undead you can get to 99 in a couple of hours!(probably)

Ha! It IS possible. Actually, the game became harder when I played the International version with Sphere Grid upgrading... If you can't believe I finished FFX without Sphere Grid... You might tell me I'm a big liar if I tell you that I beat all Monster Arena Bosses, except 3 without Sphere Grid Upgrade. :P :D

I'd go with FFIX. Easier to jump into IMO. The junction system can be really tedious during the first disc.

Depends on the person you ask. I thought VIII was awesome, my second favorite FF game. Others dont like it. Same goes for FFIX, either love it or hate it. Id personally start with FFVIII but Im bias :P VIII has more of a FFVII, newer FF games feel, where FFIX is more like the older FF games. Pick whichever sounds cool to you to play first :)

I didn't say it was bad, the first disc can just be annoying.

do IX, the systems are easier to jump into, the characters r better, the storyline makes a bit of sense compared to VIII which makes no sense in the slightest, the storyline is seriously THE WORST THING EVER IN VIDEOGAMING HISTORY! well apart frm religious games...if you do play VIII, call rinoa "anal", it's not my idea, it's spoonys idea, but its still hilarious, call rinoa "anal", literally made the game bearable for me...
