The site i usually go to to get FF info is ffinsider.net, and they've recently posted a short article about a ACC Ps3 bundle that will come out in Japan. What do think the chances are of this coming out in North America? Cuz' i dont have a ps3 yet, and i would totally get this bundle if it came out here.

No, you miss-interpreted the info, Region Free PS3 means that the PS3 can play any region-coded Blu-ray movie. It doesen't even make sense talking about games, because all of them are region-free anywhere in the world.

The only explanation possible for a European game not working on an American PS3 is the fact that the game might have been recorded in 50Htz frequency (PAL) only, ence, this poses a problem because American TV's run on 60Htz (NTSC), this is why american people can order games from Japan, whilest europeans can´t.

In case youre wondering, the effect you get for putting a 60Htz game rolling in a 50Htz screen is the black&white color. Nothing bad really happens.

Does Japan have the same voltage as North America ? I can't remember. If not, you may have to buy a converter, or your PS3 will be toast.

It sure does look awesome! I know that Europe uses a different wall plug but not sure about Japan. Would be quite a shame to find that out to the hard way......

Bad news for you guys.

Even if you import the bundle you'll face serious problems, initially my concern was for the plugs, they would be different in both PAL countries and North America, but, as I searched some more I discovered that you could easly buy a plug adaptor to your socket, but still the true, as I later discovered, problem is the voltage.

Why? Well, if you order that bundle and then buy your plug adaptor and then plug it, there will be a chance the PS3 wont turn on, because the voltage might not be enough, this hapens cuz Japan runs on 120V and USA runs on 100V.

If you tried that in Europe, the experience would be much worse, here, we run on 220V, meaning, after you pluged your PS3 it would start flashing like fireworks and then burn up, summed up, it would become trash.

So, yeah, PS3 ACC Bundle, Japan ONLY.

As I mentionned earlier, there are voltage converters.

Make no mistake, I cheked that too, guess what?

Voltage converters have VERY limited usage, 2hours tops actually, and it's strictly suposed to be used only for a short while.

In the end, I am right, it's just not worth it.

What are you talking about ? Are you thinking of a power generator ?

A voltage converter uses a transformer that you plug into an electrical outlet. It works as long as there is power coming in from the outlet.

No, a power gen is a huge thing, I do know what a voltage converter is, and it was not made for long usage, or so I've read.

Nevertheless, the ACC bundle is out of question for Europe, since, you would still have to deal with the phasic problem...

sucks being an european >___>

You might wanna check your sources, then. I don't claim to be an expert on the subject, but back when I used to live in Europe, we had this voltage converter that I used for my Japanese Famicom. The thing never broke, or malfunctioned even after the countless hours of gaming.

I think it's still in our basement, somewhere.

I guess you've got a point, since I never actually been around one of those things
