Final Fantasy character sacrifices... (spoilers)

We all know what happened to Aeris (FF7), but there's also Galuf (FF5)... I'm not sure if we can consider what Tellah (FF4) and Gen. Leo (FF6) did as "sacrifice". Btw, i can't remember well, but did Gabbranth (FF12) sacrifice himself in the last battle?

Anyway, my purpose here is to ask which sacrifice by a character of their lives (whether they subsequently died or they recovered) that really shocked you and you really appreciated SO much?

Personally, the sacrifice of the twins Palom and Porom (FF4) really struck me. They are just kid, but see what they did. It's quite schocking... However, the most shocking for me is Aeris'... Oh my... seeing it in FMV really shocked me.

Gabranth didn't really sacrifice himself. He attacks Vayne, who then kills him.

Personally, I have found Yang and Galuf's sacrifices very touching. Cid (in FFIV) was just unnecessary. Why couldn't he just drop the bomb from the Enterprise ? He just HAD to jump with it ? :P

I didn't see it coming, though I was younger at the time I first played VII.

I thought it was sad...but oh well, she was the most worthless character in VII in battles...

I was definitely happy when Tidus died. I almost cried tears of joy.

Then, when he was revived, I weeped.

One character that should've been killed off was Squall. He was just a lame character.

I would have to say Aeris' death shocked me the most, having said that... she annoyed me anyway so I guess it was for the best (for me) :)

well, i don't think that was shocking even though critics have said it was like the most "shocking moment in videogame history".

you could see aerith's death coming. c'mon. a weak person with only one hidden trump card worthy of her "Ancient" ancestry is not gonna last long.

I'll play my ignorance of youth card here (being around 12 at the time) :P so I didn't see it coming, I wouldn't say most shocking moment though. I'm still yet to play through 1,2,4,5 so maybe I'll find sacrifices that shock me more so, if I ever get around to playing them.... work and Uni suck! :)

Aerith's death was the most shocking for me at the time (younger than 10) and I still go 'Nuuu T_T' when I see it. It is kind of an obvious death, I suppose it's just the leading up to it and the knowledge that she doesn't know he's going to do it...and she's trying to do so much good and save everyone else. That's part of the reason why Zack's death upset me, I knew it was coming but  it was the way that it happened and the things it stopped him from doing like being with Aerith, being with Cloud (not in that way) and actually LIVING.

The other death that shocked me was Palom & Porom's. It didn't upset me, I was just shocked at it. I mean, out of nowhere these 2 kids just...kill themselves. In a rather unrealistic way I think, because I would've thought that the walls would've crushed their stone bodies too

When I played VII through the first time, I was pretty shocked from Aeris' death. During the second time I was actually glad that she got killed :P

I was really sad about Zack's death and I have to say Kuja's too...he was a good guy :D
