I've enjoyed MMORPGs since the 1999 release of Asheron's Call. I've played Final Fantasy XI on the PC, PS2, and Xbox 360. My heart goes out to the PC since the interface for many of the MMORPGs on todays market suit a keyboard, and mouse. BUT. Final Fantasy XI interface is strange on the PC since it's a cross-platform MMORPG. The PS2 and Xbox 360 control work well enough to keep the game entertaining.
As for myself I played Final Fantasy XI for about 4 months. As you get older you notice that the more responsibility you have in reality, the harder it is to maintain a second life in a MMORPG. To a certain point; only the dedicated gamer will see all that FFXI has to offer. As with games like Lord of the Rings Online, Age of Conan, and World of Warcraft; you can still manage your time and see a lot of the world which I like.
Subscription is used to cover several expenses to maintain a MMORPG. So they say. I certainly think the cost could be cheaper. Guild Wars on the other hands doesn't exactly have a persistent world as opposed to World of Warcraft. Everyone isn't connected on the same server or "plain".
