Nomura recycles a lot of character art, so that'd be the explanation.
I saw those trailers and if you notice carefully, the last bit of FFXIII and Versus XIII (where he's with the tux) those are in-game.
So far.. FFXIII seems like another FFXII please GOD I do hope I'm wrong but Versus seeing as it's by the FFVII, Parasite Eve, Dissedia and KingDom Hearts team.. I have hope.Â

It's not just him, though... Pretty much every artist has their own, unique style.

I hate that about him.l If there was some originality to his artwork to begin with, it wouldn't be as bad, but they are all generic looking anime characters with 15 belts and 20 zippersI watch the FFXIII and FF VS XIII trailers and think "What are they doing to Final FAntasy?!"equimanthorn01Evolving the series, like they always have. Personally, I'd take that over and getting the same old thing any day.

Seriously? wth did you see in those trailers that i obviously must've missed? all we got from both trailers is hunches of what the story might be like...what's so wrong about what they're doing to FF? its funny how the generation that was calling for overhead maps is all but gone now it seems but we still get the odd person who wants FF to stay the exact same no matter what. I loved FFXII, in fact its my favorite of the series and i'm still playing it today, nearly a year or more since i got it, and i agree with you it evolved the series but what's wrong with something new for the next FF games? I would love nothing more than an improved FFXII clone in the future but i also want something new and FFXIII and versus are looking amazing so far.

1. The traielrs are cliche
2.The settings do not look like Final Fantasy. They look like Phantasy Star
3. Nomura is overrated as hell and damn near everything he has done is sub par, especially in comparison to the FF series on the SNES and FFXII

I didn't assume anything i'm saying it like i see it. Trailers can't be cliche because they don't tell you much of anything. Its not written in stone what the enviornments are supposed to look like for a final fantasy game, in fact each game had different enviornments. I don't care whether Nomura is overrated or not, and i don't care what he's put out in the past, i'm interested in what he's doing next and its looking promising...and believe it or not Nomura isn't the only guy working on the game, so its not like its his word and no one else.[QUOTE="equimanthorn01"]Evolving the series, like they always have. Final Fantasy enviroments are not set in stone, no, but this is ripping enviropments from other games and saying "This is ours now...even though it, in no way, resembles any of the forst 12 games" It's stupid. IT does not look like Final Fantasy at all
Â
One of the two is directed by the guy that directed Final Fantasy X-2. They shold have canned him, not encouraged him.
Â
The game stil lsuffers Nomuras bland, boring, repetitive and highly unoriginal character design
The trailers are definitely eye candy for us starving FF fans. I do agree a little that the games don't seem to have that FF look, but why is that a bad thing. It still got FF summons, sword play, crazy looking Cloud clones. Throw in a mog, a chocobo, a dude name Cid & we got FF's signature stamp. It even got what reminds me of FFVII in the train scene in it. It might not look FF-ish but it still got that vibe. At least for me it does. I'm sure for some, it doesn't. Let's not get all crazy till we actually get some hands on play time with the games. Then we can say, What the @#$ did they do to the series.
Same thing people where saying before FFXII came out. I loved that game for taking the series to a different direction (tho it did feel FFXI-ish to me, but for many, it was the first time they played a final fantasy game that felt like a MMO). I wish they could find a way to make FFXI an offline game that plays like FFXII. Maybe more people would appreciate it. I sure would. I've played that game for a year and a half when it came out. I would love to understand the story of that game. Anyways....let's reserve some of the negative opinions of a game that isn't even finish being made yet until we actually have a product out to play to be negative about.
I do not like what they are doing with the sumnmons and Cloud was a terrible character
Â
I never questioned FFXII. IT always looked like exactly what FF was always meant to be

Something it was never meant to be ? Says who, you ? It's Square-Enix that gets to decide what Final Fantasy should be, not the fans.
Besides, we have yet to see ANY gameplay footage, isn't it a little premature to judge the game? :?

The people that created it are no longer there. It's kind of like if Glen Drover was the one making every single decision for Megadeth and their future.Â
Based off of what we have seen so far, we can cearly see that hte character design is generic. The trailers are full of cliche stuff. It is far ore futuristic than any other Final Fantasy we have ever seen. It would fit ok in with the Phantasy Star univers but none of it feels Final Fantasy

The same thing can be said for many, many games. Final Fantasy XII and Fallout 3 are great examples of that, and you seem to like them just fine.
Also, I fail to see what's so generic or cliché about the trailers, especially when the series is finally trying something other than the overdone medieval fantasy theme. I think you said it yourself earlier, it looks nothing like the previous FF games.
