I love Blue Mages! All their spells are far superior than Red Mages.

I totally agree. When I play the FF series I'm usually a straight physical attack person UNLESS the particular enemy is really resistant to physical attacks. So, in this case, the Blue Mage is really useless to me. The Red Mage doubles as a warrior and back up magic user. I'll take those double skills all day long. Not to mention, don't they have the ability to learn Dualcast in FFV? That is one damaging ability. :)

I picked Red MAge because I never found any of the blue magic abilities to be incredibly useful unless you count the enemy skills from VII which I still prefered magic to monster magic. Monster magic lol.

So yeah red mages.

I went with red mage. I don't take the time to make my blue mages useful.

Red Mages can only use mid-level spells.. Not really a very good mage in the long run. With regard to their equipment, Red and Blue Mages share almost the same gears.

I took the Red Mage just because they are a bit more useful to me. I mean, the blue mage's ability to learn enemy skills is all well and good. It's fun to try to collect them and such but they are just not overall that terribly useful. The Red Mage, even with only having the ability to learn up to mid-level spells, is just more powerful for me. I'm the type that really doesn't use much in the way of spells unless I absolutely have to. I'm a physical fighter most of the time. The Red Mage suits that purpose perfectly.

The blue mage's ability to steal monsters powers is fun to collect but not very powerful. The difference was in FF7 when you could steal magic like Shadow Flare or Pandora's Box. Now that was fun AND useful.

Who said Blue Magic are not powerful and/or useful? Big Guard a.k.a. Mighty Guard is one of the best spells in all of FF universe ever. It casts Protect, Shell, Haste and Regen all at the same time at very easonable MP cost, and more importantly, in just one turn.

Offensive spells like Shadow Flare, Pandora's Box, Big Bang and Shockwave Pulsar... Especially Shockwave Pulsar is even more powerful than the most powerful spells like Ultima out there.

Yeah, but I'm really not the type to use a lot of magic unless absolutely necessary. Like I said previously, I'm more of a physical attacks person. I spend a lot of time level grinding so that my characters are at high levels and are able to physically pound opponents easily. Don't get me wrong, there are some very cool magical spells you can learn with Blue Mages/Enemy Skills materia! Your mention of Big Guard is a really good example of that. Especially if you're one that uses a lot of buffs and debuffs. I'm just not one of those that does that unless I absolutely must.

I disliked both Khimari and Quina. Khimari was a discrace to dragoons everywhere. Kain is a beast. Freya is better than Khimari. His blue magic skills were nothing special plus they were only available as a overdrive. Lulu could double cast Flare without overdrive. Then there was Yuna which had Anima. Auron had rediculous strength. Tidus was fast. Khimari was not that good. I guess Blue magic was useful in V.

The 1 move that I liked that Khimari could learn was Nova. But after I had beaten Omega I learned that he could learn that move, so I had to go all the way and unlock Nemesis to get it.

Blue Magic is awesome in FFV. FFVI expanded it with Strago and Gau. FFVII and VIII continued the tradition. Quina made learning Blue Magic unique. Kimahri is just meh with his Overdrive-only Blue Magic.

Why use Khimari's overdrive when you can do the same amount of damage with a normal attack. Oh but you can use doom, although it takes like 200 TURNS TO KILL A DON TONBERRY!

My Khimari never had strength. I used Auron for strength. Khimari stayed on the bench most of the game.

The trick is to level up khimari as much as you can, then just countinue to earn him AP, get to bikanel island and use the teleport sphere on the sphere grid and teleport him to Auron's path, therefor he'll have the strength he earned on his grid + what he get's from Auron's Grid.
