they're just making them seem more like real life people. but you play games to get away from the real world. Who wants to be reminded that it's there?
Wouldn't the game be way more appealing if instead of a realistic and weak looking main character we got some awesome, battletrained dude that both looked and acted tough. Or if FF started giving you the choice to customize your own main character?

the ability to customise your character would be great but then again the romance could fail because of it, but a battle hardened soldier would be different, not worse, just different
