What should be done to FF8 ?

I'm not talking about remaking at all, I'm just asking what (in your opinion) should be or have been done to the game to make it an enjoyable game to the public, for example removing the junction system.

Hey! Why remove the junction system?! It's unique and I think it is nice.

I just wish they should have made the graphics less grainy/pixelated.

I actually liked the drawing and junction systems, the ONLY thing I would have changed is the ending FMV, They had such a great love story goin with Squall and Rinoa that they could have really flushed it out and made it really moving like FFX's ending /wish but yea as I've said before the ending to VIII confused the hell out of me, I didnt know if someone died or lived idk I was just lost.

Lol i for one have to say that ff8s gameplay system is one of the best.. the refining and the junctioning system gave the game more character development and allowed u to customize ur party in ur own very distinctive way(unlike 9)

I personally found very few flaws with 8 but none heavy enough to change for the better, maybee except the story should have had a more touching villian to give u a sense of anger and hate when fighting the last boss, i morso felt as though i was fighting some stanger, it didnt really grasp me. Oh and better menu customization options :) (grey getts pretty dull after a while).Some whould say the graphics annoyed them but given that fact that no game presented characters like that on a constant basis, it was rather impressive at the time dispite is pixelated apperence.

And the sound track is up there with the best of compositions period.

Didn't like the junction system, drawing spells for half an hour from the same monster is kinda tedious. And the game also discouraging to actually fight since you get way stronger than your enemies that way. But I agree that you can't really have that storyline without guardians and junctions.

personaly i thought it was perfect the way it was, but yes they could have used the love between squall and rinoa better in the ending FMV as to how im not sure but thats not to say it was bad, just a little more passionate dialog and small stuff like that could have improvied on an alridy great game.

p.s. im soooooooooo sick of people **** about the junction and draw system, it wasnt that damn hard if you play the game right. the people that dont like the game because of that propbley just are to much into ffVII and its EXTREAMLY EASY materia system, which was more of a chor than the junction system in trems of time consuming.

One thing is particular jumped out at me from this topic; "The main villain has no background." Or something to that effect......I have to defend FF8 here, because after playing it numerous times, and coming to really appreciate the Junction System and very unique style of visuals it offer, but most of all, the mystery.....

Ultimecia IS Rinoa, how is that NOT background....all the evidence is there, their similiar speech, their power. Also it makes sense when you think about......

The villain has more background in FF8 than most of the others....

I know that FFVIII was a first FF game for many people here, but for me, after a perfect Materia system(FFVII), Junction System and drawing spells was really boooring....

i loved VII but when i played VIII i didnt compare them, evey final fantasy as somethiming beauitful and unique to offer

Back to topic, I personlly love the game the way it is , and my intention was to let the ff8 lovers to express there slefs , and the other to express why they don't like the game. 

Who ever said there couldnt be sci fi in a fantasy setting, fantasy canot involve space or anything of that similarty? Not likeing the game play is fine some do some dont, Not every one likes a love story i understand that, but to say the game shoud ahve enver existed is ubsurd... i know a lot of characters in that game may not have had a leading role, however like every final fantasy (or at least most) they each had distinctive personalities, i strongly believe that is was far from putrid as u make it out to be.

As lets look back and remember the great quality of a certain nostalgic ff title that sent u to the moon on a space ship and invloved a rather close love story. Thats right fs metal, and u probably hate to hear this but 4 and 8 share the most similarites in story than any  other two final fantasies   /steps back and embraces whats going to come next.. 

The game should have never existed. Since that isn't an option, put it in a real fantasy setting. None of this sci fi BS. Tone down on the love story. Make the characters actually worth a damn and get rid of the draw and junction systemsfs_metal

talking trash online is kinda silly ,  common baby  lets kiss and make up,  ill give  VII a high rating  if  it puts a smile on your  pasty  face,  and the only reason i said you should get a life  is  cuz  anyone who has a normal happy life problely dosnet  blow up at their computer screen , especially to someone they don't know over something that really dosent marit any kinda angry reaction

well i forgive you and i hope you well be able to smile, if not i could give you some workout tips? just tell me what you goals are and mabie you can teach me how to be a grammer wiz kid and get all the chicks and big tips

Let me guess, you didn't wait for the credits to end did you? If you would have then you would have seen that everyone was alive and well during and after the credits. No confusion exists in the way it ends.

Fantasy and Sci-Fi are actually quite close in comparison, and FFVIII is on the borderline of Sci-Fi and Fantasy. So really, your argument on that is rather weak. And to tone down on the love story would kill this title completely, the romance in this game is what made it different from other FF's. Characters weren't great I'll give you that, but to say they weren't worth a damn is quite annoying. And the Draw and Junction system is another reason why this game is so unique.

Anyway, I would have liked to see more back story on the characters, the little information given about them doesn't really seem to satisfy. Other than that, they should have taken Selphie out of this game completely, lol.

Yiyeah but the final boss was soemhow unexpected, and added a little of mystery to the end part. Even do I think it was almost flawless, maybe the graphics a lttlem, but for that time they were gorgeous. :Dangelbless

If the final boss has little plot, then I don't have a good motivation to kill it
